I have a 97 MAX GLE and want to add kenwood tv in front of passenger side seat below the air bag in dash. Is this possible? Need to know as soon as possible. Possible gift from girlfriend.

If there is a will there is a way

Definitely can fit depending on the dimensions. It will be hard and may require some serious work, I reccomend a professional, as the wiring and getting behind the dash is a daunting task. You may want to make sure there is a cover plate for the screen, unless it is a pure show car, since it is illegal to have a screen in front. By the way is placing it in the middle console too played out for you? Anyways, for what it is worth, you have my blessing.

I thought about taking out my BOSE tape/cd reciever but that means I would need an adapter for it to play it with my BOSE speakers. I heard they sound like crap when you do so. If it sounds ok with the adapter then I will get the on for the center console. Have you heard anything about adapters and how they effect the sound quality?

BOSE are good and the adapter works, but you can't really push them. I have heard too many cases where the BOSE speakers sound great, but just can't handle high power inputs. Instead of the TV, what about getting a kick *** aftermarket deck.

Yeah I thought about that. Are there any which can also handle a vcr as well. I want a tv screen due to the fact I travel alot and a watching tv is not such a bad idea on those road trips. If you have any other suggestions I am all ears. Trying to get my car up and going.

I hope your not watching while your driving :naughty:

[*]If you got a lot, and I mean $2000+, then going Alpine can be fun because of all the options you get. You can start with a TV/controller, and add components as you go along. They have the option of DVD, VCR, tape/cd players, cd changer, seperate sub controls, kickass navigation, compatibility for video game stations, and a lot more. The down side is cost. To start up a system you will need to pay ~$1200 for the TV/receiver, ~$200 to ~$400 for a cd player (or an equalizer and cd changer), ~$100 for the wiring kit, and then the vcr. For ~$1000 they sell a DVD player. Try looking into this if you or your girl happen to be rich. www.alpine1.com
[*]Another rich blood way is through Clarion. Same basic deal except without the kickass navigation capabilities and I believe they are more expensive. Here's the web site, but stay away from the AutoPC. www.clarionmultimedia.com
[*]Third choice here is your own 'ghetto-rig'. This I like because it is cheap. Even if you are entering any shows, this setup done right can look real good. This hook-up involves you purchasing seperate components (screen, vcr, and what ever else you want) and meshing them together flawlessly. You basically go and buy a tv screen hook it up to a signal processor and then start plugging in all the vcrs it can handle. You will need an EQ, a CD (or tape and changer) player with a built in EQ. The deck needs to be able to handle external audio inputs such as putting the sound through the cd changer sound input. This rocks because the system can be put together under $1000. Try this link out, go to the categories and search under multimedia, this will give you a good sense of prices. www.tms-electronics.com
[*]Now we get to the real crazy hook-up. It involves a in dash monitor hooked up to a computer. This set-up I reccomend for its relative cheapness and expansion. A start for this would be to search the Audio forum for computers, there are a couple of members here with kickass examples. This setup invovles putting together a computer that can handle the rigors of your driving, but personalized to a eye-swelling beauty. The computer needs a good sound, video, processor, and hard drive. But, after that you have the option of a DVD player (a lot cheaper when just for a computer), MP3's (getting Napster gives you an endless source of tracks), internet connections (for hitting the forums during the long drives), and whatever else you can plug into a box (cameras, voice recorders, printer?, computer games, etc.). I know my friend in Detroit could put together a computer with everything above for ~$500 to ~$600 dollars. Then buying an screen that can compete with computer resolution would set you back another ~$500. After that you would need either an EQ or a CD player with EQ (the EQ is good since you can get any song you want from Napster or play CD's on the DVD player). I will put off giving you any connections for this unless this is what you want.

[*}Lastly, there is the cheapest option. Keep the BOSE and go buy some books on tape. The soothing sounds of classical renditions through the BOSE will not only save you money, but it will teach ya something while it keeps you entertained for hours.

Sorry for droning on so long, but I take the systems I have hooked up in the past seriously. Hope this helps.
