switching bose

I would say you would have to switch all the amplifier/active eq boxes as well, and find a way to wire them equivalent to how it was wired in the 4th gen. Personally I'm baffled as to how they did the wiring, just by taking a glance at the harnesses going into the boxes (the color coding didn't seem to match universal standard colors), but I didn't look into it at all since I was bypassing all that crap.
Also you'd have to take the tweets out and wire/mount them in the 3rd gen if you wanted to achieve the level of sound quality that the original system had, which imo, isn't that great anyway. I say put aftermarket eq in the 3rd gen if you're going to make any kind of an upgrade to it.

the third gen was a competition car see the trunk in my sig. now that i have my 4th gen i have sold all of the equipment out of the 3rd and have all new equipment for the 4th. my cousin may buy the 3rd from me and he will need a radio and speakers for the car.

Interesting
I'd say if you could find a way to wire up the stock amp boxes correctly, and get the tweets mounted, wired, and working, it could be done. I dunno how speaker fitment would work out in the pods that you have in the third gen, since it was a competition car it prolly has a lot of custom work done to it.
Then again if you've been on the level of competition as far as car audio goes, you probably know more than me, so...
