New Polk Momo Subs

Hey, you guys seen the new Momo subs? They are available now in a sealed enclosure, with curved plexi on the back to show the basket/magnet and a wheel type grille on the front. Look nice to me, just wondering what you guys think.....

Actually that link doesn't seem to be working tonight, even though it did work this afternoon at work. You can see the subs at www.polkaudio.com also.

i am thinking about buying one too. with my discount at work, its like $120 for the 10" and 130 for the 12". it might just be time to upgrade. my friend at work was installing the 10" tonight, so i'll let you know how it sounds soon.

Ahh . . . if it were only a DVC. It's not going to be inexpensive to find a good monoblock amp running 500W RMS at 4 ohms. I've heard the 12" pushed by an MTX Thunder6500D (450x1@4 ohms) and it sounded OK. I think the gain was about 2/3 on the amp.

I saw those too. Seem to be a little pricey.

Considering they use decades old motor technology, they are real expensive.

What exactly do you mean? Not to challenge you, I just don't know what you are talking about.

The motor system is decades old. There is a new variation on the motor system, XBL^2, patent pending, that has a fraction of the standard distortion. Standard being 10% for loudspeakers. I believe there is only one company which has licenced the technology so far.
