FS: PVC/MDF Speaker Spacers/Adapters for 5th Gen

I have made and sold a few sets of PVC (as well as MDF) door speaker spacers for my Sentra and Maxima buddies. These are spacers for the front doors (and also rear deck if you are non-Bose) in a 5th Gen and allow the speaker to be mounted away from the metal door (or rear deck, according to some members) while using the stock mounting holes. It also adds some mounting depth. I used a pair of 1/4" spacers as a template. The 1/4" set had a center mounting hole that was too small for any speakers that I had, so I enlarged the hole to accommodate 6.5" speakers. Each set will have a cutout diameter determined by your particular speaker. All that you have to do is pick a speaker and get the cutout info to me and I will use a custom center cutout. If you cannot find the info on your speaker, I will help you. The only bad thing about custom cutouts is that I won't be able to test fit them, but I can go 1/16" wide to allow for imperfections, if requested.

Thread discussing how these apply to a 5th Gen: http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?t=507991

Speaker in spacer:

Spacer thickness- 1":

These are 1" thick.

I will have enough material to make one more set out of the PVC, and will also make them from 3/4" MDF. I will get more PVC if there is demand. The PVC ones are made of dense closed-cell PVC plastic (think Trex decking) and are smooth. I have followed the same shape as the MDF ones that other people have/make.

Please keep in mind that these are NOT going to strip or rot, and that the materials are more expensive to buy and harder to work with than are MDF or similar products. $35 shipped seems fair to me, as the MDF ones have sold for around $30.

What are they made of?
Azek trim boards. This stuff is about $4.50 a linear foot. Each pair will take about a foot and a half to 2 feet. We're not talking MDF at $20 a sheet. A piece that is 1" thick by 8" wide and 10' long is $42.

There have been multiple threads discussing the merits of these spacers, but this thread it intended only as a SALE thread for the spacers.

If there is no interest in more sets, I will use my set and sell the ones that I have and be done with it. Also, if people want MDF and are happy with sealing it themselves, then I won't bother buying any more PVC. If there is interest, I will buy more PVC or just make them from MDF. Hector or other Moderators- let me know if it is okay to use this post to sell them.

What are they and why do I need them?
They are rings (usually made of MDF) that allow you to mount a deeper speaker in the stock door locations. Without them, mounting depth is about 1.9" in the front doors. These expand the range of speakers that you can run in the doors.

Why PVC and not MDF?
The problem with MDF is that is can get soggy or rod if not properly sealed, and it also splits out easily if not properly pre-drilled. The PVC ones will not warp, crack, or mold. It is also as dense as MDF, which cuts down on door vibrations.

Either type are easy to make- IF you have the right tools. Those who do not are forced to buy them from people who do have the tools. That is why I am offering to make and sell them.

Also available will be 9" by 9" sound deadening squares made from B-Quiet sound deadening material. (www.b-quiet.com). I can include eight 9"x9" squares of their original deadening product. It is not on their site, but I bought a bulk of it to deaden my Jeep Cherokee and I have some of it left. I just found it or I would have used it myself. The deadening squares are available for an additional $12 (shipped) for all eight. This will be enough to do the outer door skin, inner door skin (both sides) and to use a ring around the speaker as a gasket.

I have enough PVC material to make ONE MORE full-width set out of PVC before I have to buy more. I ALSO have some slightly more narrow PVC that will work just as well, but 2 of the 3 "wings" will be "clipped" on the end (see the pic of the prototype set below for a better description). I WILL also make these from MDF at a slightly reduced price. The MDF will be 3/4" since that is as thick as it comes. I can add 1/2" rings to the 3/4" spacers, but we need to discuss price.

Please PM me if interested. I normally only cut these on weekends, so be patient.

Also, here is a pic of the "prototype" set that I have for sale:

Note how the wing is missing a little bit on the edge. It does not affect function or performance, and you never see it once it is installed.
This set ONLY is $22 shipped in the continental US.
