weight mods

Anyone know of a couple common and not-too-costly weight modifications/relative lbs savings?

You can strip your trunk. and move you battery to the trunk...everything else either costs alot (like rims) or would negate having a four door car.

Na just kidding. he was replacing his bumper from someone hitting him. But you better believe we pulled a Colin Chappman when putting it back on.

- Colin Chapman on what? There wasn't anything to leave out except the foam, which we left in because it only weighed 2 oz!

- Don't forget, if you've got an intake, you can take out all the intake snorkel plumbing. Might save a pound or two and is perfectly legal.

Nice tip about the snorkel as well as battery+ trunk. I will remember that when I either Weapon-R / Franken my Max's intake.

Speaking of trunk stripping and moving the battery, I already run w/o spare (of course) and the trunk looks rather barren already. Is there anything else that can safely get removed?

How much effort/$ is the battery move move? I assume you want to go to the back right corner...
TIA

I think an aftermarket intake would move you out of GS wouldn't it?

The only other stuff you can pull out of the trunk would be the insolation, and the panels...Probably not much weight in the max now that i think about it...I was thinking more about when we stripped out my buddy's 99 mustang..there was about 75lbs of crap in there.
As far as the batttery relocation I think it took about an hour to do it on that same mustang, you can get a relocation kit for about $50 from Summit or similar place.

- Wait a second - we DID find that screw. It was underneath the panel behind the tail light. And that exhaust hanger shouldn't even matter, 'cause we're allowed to do anything we want as a cat-back. So there! Na na na na boo boo. I'm legal!

- In terms of battery relocation - its going to be harder than you think. I looked over it with a buddy of mine who is an engineer... he found problems with:
1. Routing the wire - have to drill through firewall (PITA) or run it underneath car (scary to drive in rain).
2. There is no good place to tap into the car's main power source. Surprisingly enough, most American cars have an extra negative terminal on their main power box - not so on the Max.
3. Mounting in the trunk - would take quite a bit of work to keep it from flying around in hard cornering.

- Clutches: no offense, but check your driving style first. I've never heard of anyone under 250fwhp who's had any problems with a stock clutch. Make sure that your not just wearing it out with bad driving habits, like riding the clutch. If there is something genuinely wrong, I very much like my ACT clutch and pressure plate; I'd recommend it in a heartbeat.

Thanks for the feedback. Im absolutely sure something is wrong with the clutch. (persistent probs since new install), no offense taken about driving habits or anything.
