..you can almost get seasick watching the car roll! The only mod is a FSTB and 16inch rims from a 240SX wrapped with Michelin MXV4 205-width all-season tires.

I dind't do too well since I haven't figured out how to attack the hairpins properly withouht plowing like a ****.

So how would I have taken that hairpin at the other end of the course (the one where I understeer like mad).

 

There are two things that I picked up on...

1) Seems that your hitting your brakes in the middle of a turn. You diffinately did it during that quick s turn heading to the right. Braking in the middle of a turn is a

2) On the hairpin turn if you take the outside lane, come in a little bit slower, and turn harder you could cut in closer.

Best thing the will help you other than tires is RSB and lower that airship

2a) You don't want to pinch it too tight and lose all your speed. You could also think of it as a small sweeper/skidpad and take the fastest tighest circle the car can handle.

3) Did you consider changing rear tire pressures to make the car rotate more? Braking and throttle lifting will also dive the car taking pressure of the rear tires making it rotate too.

 

2) The area was way to tight to do a sweeper.

3) Yes, according to what some other folks over there said, I reduced the pressure in the rear tires. It was something like 36/20. I would have thought increaseing the rear tires would be better off, but I followed the advice of the other experienced drivers there.

 

If you want the car to rotate more you need to make the rear stiffer, i.e. raise tire pressures, stiffer springs, or more agressive anti roll bar.

All the folks I autocross with suggest 45/35 for FWD cars (and the suspension setup thread here shows most run something like that). Why are you running such low pressures? BTW, the reason I was given for higher pressure in autocross is cuz the tires might actually rip off the rims if the sidewall flexes too much. Anyone here know if that's a valid reason or just BS? (It sounded reasonable to me...)

Other than that, RSB will help a bit, though I don't really know how much since I never ran autox without it...

based on your wheel/tire combo and the conditions, your pressures will change dramatically from one car to the next. on my old 225/50/16 Pirelli P7000, I had to run over 50psi to keep the sidewalls from rolling over. on my 225/50/16 Kumho 712s, I ran about 45, depending on the surface. concrete gets 48, asphalt gets closer to 43. Then got went to 17" wheels with 235/45/17 size and the pressures dropped another 5psi from the ones above. My 235/45/17 sumitomo HTRz-II I'm still trying to figure out, but am guessing about 40lb is what I want...
those are all front pressures, and I run 5psi lower in the back.. if it gets a bit squirrley, then I'll drop the rears a bit more. if I go more than 10psi lower though, the rear gets mushy and loosens up again.
