Canyon Carving....
Canyon Carving....
Took my car out last night, and felt like I pushed it as far as I would want to push it. Around some corners, sounds of my tires loosing traction, unsure if they were front or back. Couldn't tell as I was driving. Here's my setup so far, since I have no more money to spend at this time. Few nights ago as we took the same road, I had started to get some brake fade on some parts of our little course. Since I didn't have much money to spend, I had routed some ducting to the brakes. To see if they helped, well last night I didn't feel the amount of brake fade that I had gotten from the previous night. We are going to fabricate some flanges to the heatsheild soon.
FSTB
Sprint Springs
KYB AGX (3/5)
Progress Sway Bar
Katana C5 18x7.5 - Unsure about offset, I think it's at like 45.
Kumho Supra 712s 235/40ZR18 - Came with wheels
Brembo Blank Rotors
Akebono Ceramic OE Replacements
Brake Ducting
Any suggestion on what I should do next. What I was thinking next was to get some new wheels. 18xSomething wide...9?9.5? Unsure about that, then following that would be changing my brakes to BBK.
Comments or suggestions???

I just did a weekend at the new Shenandoah track at Summit Point and found my brakes were a serious limiting factor. I am going to rig up some sort of ducting from the fog light cut outs to someplace close to the inside of the rotor. When you get yours done post some pics, it seems to be a relatively cheap/easy way to get some more performance out of the stock braking system.
I've been thinking about running some ducting. Its just tough with minimal clearance from larger tires. My tires already hit the framerail on full lock. I was toying with the idea of running big vacum style tubing from the lower grill to the rotors. I've seen it secured right next to the rotor rather successfully. I just wish I had clearance. All in time...
Ive been toying with the idea of ducting for my rotors too- it would be one of my favorite kinds of mods- i.e. homemade with help only from Orchard and the Home Depot. Might be tricky tho to find space under there with my wild 'an crazy intake.
The best brake upgrade that I have done so far was pretty easy-
Hawk HP+ pads- they DO NOT FADE and they LAST- still on my first set after almost 6 hours of track time (!) and plenty left!
Id estimate that they will last 3x longer than the Porterfield R4S, which is really something. Only problem is- they seem to squeak, unless I didnt break them in properly (a good possibility)

Yeah i've heard of people squeaking with those pads....Yeah i haven't found time to do that right now, i'm about to fabricate something for my clutch fork but don't know about the ducting yet. Got some clips of my moutain passes but kinda dark, had got the views of the road on one pass and the other pass on my cluster.....both night passes around 11pm-12am
