Some pics from our last CDC autocross...

...the one where nobody knows how to drive, remember

the 3rd gen in some of the pics is gdmaxse

FTD for the course was mid-44's. I'd guess mean time of the day was about 50 seconds or so. My FTD was 49.7, and gdmax's was in the low 50's as I recall...

Finally got my number back! (gotta represent the org too)

My wife finally agreed to ride with me...described it as "better than a roller coaster" and then said that I better not ever drive like that on the street. With her in the car, put up my 2 best times. Go figure.

The Green civic on the left was one of the fastest cars out there, running some unbelievable times...

me on the left, gdmaxse on the right

Too many evos...make the rest of us look slow....

Who would win in a race? hmm... (like my ghetto camera mount?)

Never seen a guy throw and "SUV" around a course so fast...

The fastest of the Miatas....running 47's

This evo was even faster than you might think...put up 44's and 45's and didn't even look like he was trying. The green civic was mucho fast also.

Had to do a run with all the lighting on and the MP3 player blaring some Rage....2nd best run of the day, to boot.

I still would bet you could take that other guy, the World's Greatest Auto-x Driver from Cincy.

It was that extra bump of testosterone that made you drive better by having her in the car, or she stabilized the weight balance.

Those Civics are hard to beat, they usually aren't that fast, but in auto-x they are small so they don't have to slow down either, just like a Mini.

Hey Guys I need a bit of help / education.

I'm recently rejoined Maxima.org after leaving for several years. Not important. I'm back with a '03 SuperBlack SE, but I can not create new posts. Is this not wierd? I can not ask simple questions like: Where is a good detail shop in NorCal? Can anyone advise on a proper course of action? Thanks

sorry to bother.

This is the autocross forum

read the stickies for the rules as to post counts for newbies, there are new rules - though if you were on the org years ago, your username should still be here and usable.....

as to detail shops in NorCal...you might want to look in the West coast forum.....

And why were the whales (maximas)taken to the dolphin show?

Maximas handle like big whales, what a waste of time to set pilons for maximas to go around for.

Never too many Evos.

I autoX my whale also, and it does quite good against EVOs in my club. A friend of mine who is a really good driver had a 03 EVO and now has a 05 EVO RS and his old EVO on S-Techs couldn't keep up with my Maxima what so ever. I have been on autoX break for some time now since my car club I run with is looking for a new spot to run at. I need to dial in my suspension better also before I go after the faster-than-EVO cars.

Sorry to tell you, not Azenis

Hankook Ventus R-S2's 225/45/17....happy with them so far, but should have shaved them (never got around to doing it).

of course, if you want to send me some free Azenis, I'll be happy to run them and put some Falken magnets on

You know what, he probably could. Since my car seems to be at about 75% as responsive as it use to be 2.5 years ago. Also my driving skills are about 65% of where they were 2.5 years ago. Which isn't saying much considering I wasn't that good of a driver then either.

Said thing is I still end up beating or crushing cars I have no busniess beating.

Maybe well run into each other at an event someday. I enjoy meeting other maxima owners. Especially ones that auto-x theirs.

Oh well maybe next year I'll try a little harder, but for now I going to try to get this car setup. I need to figure out the propper tire pressures for the RS2's.

If you're running a small/medium course with RS2's, try 42 front 37 rear (cold)....that is generally what I run with them...

OH, by the way, the results were posted:

if you feel like browsing the competition:
http://members.***.net/capitaldrivin...05results.html

short recap:
Total field: 70 cars (well, about 66 cars, and 70 drivers)
FTD: 44.51
My best time: 49.79, good for 36th Place (dammit, just missed top half).
My indexed time: 49.4, good for 20th Place indexed (kind of like a golf handicap).

Gabe's best time was 52.55, but that includes a 2sec cone penalty...so his best actual time (if you forget the cone was 50.55). Since he hadn't run with CDC before, he had no index.....so his finishing position was around 50th or so (didn't count)....

Hmm....finished 8th indexed in the previous meet, so I'm not particularly pleased with 20th indexed. Oh well....next race is at the same lot, so i'll have car set up more appropriately next time....

Funny, those about the pressures I ended up with at my last event. I stathed with 35/30 f/r then went to 40/35 f/r then 44/39. I am running a different sized tire than you. I'm running the 225/50/16. I also agree with you about having these tires shaved.

These tires aren't too bad they but they do seem less responsive than my old Ponteza S02's.

You guys ever get out to NASA HPDE's? Actually I think the Miata club is having one Aug 1st, NASA's is (I think) Aug 27-28.
I am going to Ripken for SCCA auto-x this weekend on Saturday afternoon heats.
FYI you don't have to be a member to race.
