I wonder if there's some kind of record for maxes particpating in an auto-x, because 4-5 would probably win.

I put a thread in the Northeast section to link to yours in the DC forum. I didn't include NY because although nyc guys show up for philly meets driving another hour may be too long.

actually, there are 5 expected as of now - I forgot you hadn't actually pre-registered yet (do it, son!)

Also Rob is bringing out the new Alti SE-R to see if it's faster than his traded-in 5.5G Max!

Sweet, I was already planning on being there, so I'll definetly see you guys. My car isn't race worthy, but two of my buddies will be racing in the #54 Ford Focus and the #167 Pontiac Firebird. For those of you who have registered, what are your car numbers?

Just pray it doesn't rain. Do they still race if it rains?

Not to get too sarcastic here, but what difference do our car numbers make? The bunch of us who are racing will be easy to spot...we'll be the retards auto-x-ing maximas.....

haha....just look for the biggest cars out there.

as for me, running DSP #444, black 5G maxima

also:
Jason in the #130 Red SM2 Miata
Clayton in the #96 Red DP Miata
John in the #7 DSP White Maxima
Mike in the #23 DSP White Maxima
George in the #123 SM (wtf??) Merlot Maxima
Karim in the #81 DSP Black Maxima
Rob in the #900 DSP Silver Altima SE-R
Mike in the #18 FSP G35 Coupe....

I think there are a few other guys out there too....Norm in the Malibu (?) and another local in a red camaro (SM, perhaps?)

My max is the only of the group that's actually DSP, but stock and ST classes run in the morning, and we all wanted to run in the afternoon when SP and SM runs...

your buddies are running STS and FS, respectively...which both run in the morning session. You going to stick around for the afternoon?

IIRC, event is still on, even if it rains. Latest forecast I've seen is for a great day, though!

#85 gold Mazda 626, probably in FSP for this one event (edit: the class letters just came out of the printer).

MaxKlinger - the current Earthlink weather forecast is
Tomorrow: Except for a few afternoon clouds, mainly sunny. High 73F. Winds S at 15 to 25 mph.
but we've held events where parts of the course (not Ripken) were under two or three inches of water. And then there was last year's "snowcross".

Cool. I'm going down with a whole group of friends, some of which are coming down from north Jersey tonight. Just didn't want to trek all the way down to MD and get rained out.

See you guys there tomorrow.

It was a great event! over 200 cars running this time. Only three maxima's though. that, and 97SEdriver is because he didn't show up. Probably didn't want to get embarrased by my oil burner!

babysitter problems....just wait, you'll understand one day...

There are three more SCCA events at Ripken, Irish may be going to all of them (I think), pick one and I'll meet you there.

look like aaa? I don't get it.

I got one of the pic CD's. I'll post them when I can get to a computer with a working CD drive! There's some good shots in it. In one you can tell that I'm about a hair away from lifting a tire. Too bad there weren't any pics of the smoke I kept throwing out of my exhaust!

I really should have gotten one. There were some great pics of my car - I looked at that company's online site, but they don't have the CD option for some reason, and the individual download prices are $20 per pic...screw that!!!..

Results are posted here (and the final turnout was 192, still a Philly Region event record).

Josh - you beat me on raw time again, but I got you on index.

Anyone notice that GBAUER (george) won the Novice class, which was a HUGE class at this event!

whoopie doo...I took 2nd in DSP, out of a grand total of 3 cars. I knew that civic hatch would beat me if he ever stayed on course

Holy Schnickies! I beat both Josh (Irish) and Jason (Cutler) on my indexed time! I've got bragging rights for at least a good two or three weeks!!!!

I would like to thank my wife for allowing me to go, my body shop for painting my engine cover, Josh for being slower than me...

Can someone explain indexed times?

If you take into account that I'm really an STX car and I ran DSP (vice got a higher index), my STX indexed time was 36.3, which beats yours

slower? My actual time was about a second and a half faster than you....

I will also note that you ran with lowering springs in G-stock, which are NOT legal (you have to use your stock springs). I'm also not sure if your intake is legal in GS....

Like a golf handicap, kind of. It's a predetermined "index" that your real time is multiplied by to get an overall index.

They do have a CD option, you may have to call the guy, but I know you can get CD's after the fact.

Definetly a good time on Saturday. Congrats to GBAUER on winning first in novice. What was the time you ended up with?

Who's going to the next event? 23 April in Warminster, Pa?

The congrats all belong to you. I heard a couple of your times over the PA system while I was standing around waiting to run. There weren't many quicker novice raw times (but don't let it go to your head ).

I think it was 64 milliseconds with me running my STS-legal car in FSP, and the STS equivalent is a bit under 36.2 . . . but who's counting.

Too bad Irish couldn't hang with us...
Some days you're the windshield, some days you're the bug . . . or something like that (points for identifying the musical reference).

Thanks! I still don't think any of my runs were very clean. In the last one (46.6), I almost plowed into a wall of cones. If I could've gotten the car to turn sooner, I probably would have shaved another .5 seconds from my time.

Can't make that one, but I'm going to try to make the Autocrossers Inc event at Ripken on Saturday of the weekend before. www.autox4u.com should have more information.

Try this. Earlier post fixed too.

www.autox4u.com should have more information (click on 'Complete Schedule').

Have I ever mentioned what a PITA I think it is to get the formatting so the links stand out and URL links themselves to work right . . . simultaneously? The work-around in this case is rather senseless.
