heavier than I expected....my GT6 weighs less than that (and would weigh even less with an LS1 in place of the iron block I6)...but that's a sick weight distro!

Looks VERY competitive but yes too heavy.

The ultimate in autocrossing designs is still Bowland's BBR Shark which often wins events by a margin of 5-10 seconds over any other vehicle. It is one reason the A-Mod class exists. A shifter cart driver I know was fortunate enough to drive it at the Natl Tour last year. Even he came out shaking from excitement.

It's a snowmobile engine, with one gear... when it's redlined, the wheels can't turn any faster... let off, the car slows down, tap the gas, it matches the rev... kind of a cool idea.

at the last autoX I went to, a rx7 (FD) chassis showed up...the body was a three piece CF only thin shell...no fiberglass bonded to the cf so it flexed...the frame and the front shock mounts were still FD according to the guy, but the rest of the car was completely custom fab but still had the turbo rotary of course (putting out 430whp on race gas)...it weighed in at 1300lbs with driver and he was running some crazy width V710's which were tracked out about a foot from the body! including 3 piece forged hre wheels (the ones you see in le mans on the porsche's! lol) rediculous! he said he takes it out late at night around his neighborhood for a quick spin occassionally...otherwise it's trailored of course being not street legal...everything was foam filled according to him and everything else that wasn't was "swiss-cheesed" to save weight...

wish I had my camera that day!

My GT6 will weigh less than that in "race trim"

stock 1700lbs
- fiberglass hood replacing steel hood (-30lbs)
- Keihin carbs replacing Webers (-10lbs)
-passenger seat out (-35lbs)
-driver seat replaced with race seat (-15lbs)
-aluminum spindles and wishbones (-35lbs total)
-fiberglass body panels vs. steel (-50lbs)
-full-size spare out (-25lbs)
-lightweight wheels (-20lbs)
-chrome bumpers removed (-20lbs)
-other stuff.....(-10lbs)

=1450lbs

could drop even more without the heavy iron-block inline-6 and 6 carbs replacing it with a rotary engine like some LBC guys do (take off another 200 lbs)

I could have done significantly better than the guy doing the hillclimb. And the gearing was terrible for that event, he topped out on every single straight.

I wonder how a radical would do on the autocross course (wonder if it would be better suited for road coarse) or even perhaps the ariel atoms...

Its really set up for autoX, he brought that car to an autoX i went to in the blue ridge region and took FTD by far:

I was driving the DSP 2.5 RS, a little off the pace

Here are some pics from that event:
