My 1st STS win this season
My 1st STS win this season
Actually it was my 1st STS finish ever. (took out 2 Integra's and a Civic) 42nd index overall.

Very open course that flowed from start to finish. Tended to favor the higher speed and hp cars.
Much improved over my dismal start in the rain earlier this year.
Helps get me ready for the Tour in 3 weeks

You can walk around the track as many times as you want before the start of the event. Man it would be really hard to run an autoX course without knowing where to go. I miss enough cones as it is, knowing how the track is laid out. If I didn't I doubt I'd ever make a complete pass.

After a while it becomes possible to run courses without walking or seeing a map. My Merrillville class spent a whole day teaching just that.
You do have to look way ahead and forget where you currently are driving

Mr. Camden. Take the time to check your PM and act accordingly.

Hey bejay, I see that evo school helped you alot. I missed the deadline to sign up for the evo school in Atlanta the first of this past month. I'm gonna try to hit up mid-Ohio or some other high performance driving school this summer though.

These guys are the best of the best, and they ALWAYS walk the courses...at my local races they usually spend more time than anyone else walking the course, and they win. Yes, I guess it is possible to run the course without walking it or seeing a map, but you're not going to beat anyone. I'm really surprised to see a class teaching to run an autocross course without walking it. Everyone I've ever met that is worth a damn in autocrossing says the course walk is the most important thing they do at the track.

Totally agree with you, in fact I now walk it 3-5 times myself. I just meant if you're looking ahead (way ahead) you can visualize the course better and the map and walk become less of a crutch.
That class gave us one walk through to start. Then they kept changing the slaloms, turns, and even reversing the whole thing. It forced us to look ahead and adjust accordingly, on the fly.
