First time I tried it....3 in front and 8 in rear. Talk about tail wagging. It was alot of fun (especially for the camera), but hurt my times alot. My best runs have been at a setting of 3 in the front and 5 in the rear. I'm gonna experiment more at the next event now that I have a rear sway bar as well.
I've had a lot of success with the fronts set to 2 and rear set to 8. This give me a more secure feeling all the way around. The front doesn't rebound too quickly and the rear is stiff enough to rotate when you need it to. If you have you front to stiff the car will rotate to easily. You have to find a happy combo for your liking and cars set up.

3 - F
5 - R
-Worked well for me on Thunderhill's roadcourse. Not actually Auto-X, so I'm sorry if it's considered O/T; just trying to add to the data.
For Auto-X I'd probably experiment with either 3 or 4 on the front & bump the rear up to 6 or 7. (Totally speculating at this point, based on my handling impressions at the racetrack).

First run I did 2 front and 7 rear, and my car seemed to roll and plow a little to much. I then stiffened the front to 3 and kept the rear at 7 and it felt much better.
Then again, it's a combination of many things - Tire's, tire pressure, wheels, springs, etc. So try a few different combinations and see what YOU feel more comfortable with.
FYI: For a few days I kept it set at 3/7 and the car didn't feel too bad. For fun I changed to 1/3 and WOW, it's much softer but feels very "floaty" and unstable. After driving around with 3/7, the soft setting of 1/2 makes me almost scared to take turns remotely fast. I changed back to 2/4 for everyday driving.
