My (Last) Warpspeed Experience (very long)
My (Last) Warpspeed Experience (very long)
Over the past few weeks I have been looking to buy a y-pipe to coincide with the arrival of my VI (woo hoo!) and have read just about every damn y-pipe thread out there. Cattman and Stillen just cost too much, and everyone that has a WarpSpeed or Budget pipe seems more or less satisfied. Recently I also read several posts about Warpspeed customer service and how some people have waited up to several months for their y-pipes.
Generally speaking Warpspeed has always been helpful and supportive of the Maxima community, so I decided to go ahead and order from them.
I called Lynn on Friday November 1st and spoke with her for about 10 minutes. I told her what I wanted and also explained my hesitations about ordering from them. She acknowledged they had some problems shipping stuff out and explained how they just got somebody's brother from Wisconsin or something to come down and help and that they were back on track. So I placed an order for a TIG-welded SS y-pipe and she told me it would ship early next week, possibly Tuesday but definitely by Wednesday. She also told me she would call with the tracking number when it was shipped.
Wednesday the 6th came and went, and still no word from Warpspeed. I called Thursday and spoke with Lynn, who reported some delays and told me should would call me back by the end of the day. Thursday passed without further word from WSP.
Friday I took off work to do some maintenance on the Max. Mid-afternoon I called WSP again to inquire about the shipment. Lynn told me the product had not yet shipped and that she did not have a tracking number, but that it should ship today. I was now quite familiar with that story, so I cancelled the order. Lynn said "fine".
This morning I get back to work and find a message on my voicemail from Lynn asking me to call her back. I call her back and she tells me that the pipe was in fact shipped Friday morning, but that she did not know about it when I called. I told her that was a problem because I had already ordered another pipe. She told me that I could return it when I get it, but that I would be charged a %15 restocking fee.
I did not like the idea of paying ~$50 for a cancelled order because of poor communicaiton between Lynn and her shipping department, and I expressed this to Lynn. She said I would need to pay for the return shipping and then they would credit my account the difference. I asked for the tracking number.
Tracking number in hand I went to the FedEx site and put it in. The first item it has listed is at 17:46, or 5:46 PM on Friday. Just to be sure I called FedEx and they confirmed that the package was dropped off over-the-counter at 5:46 PM. So it wasn't really shipped until after I cancelled the order. I told FexEx to cancel shipment and return to sender.
So the moral of the story here is, if you want your Warpspeed pipe, call and cancel your order and they will ship it out that day.

That's disappointing to hear. Warpspeed screwed up. It does at least look like your money will be refunded. Keep us posted on the promptness of the refund process
If all else fails, refusing the charge is a powerful tool. If you can, be sure to have your call logs, etc. of when you called and what you spoke about. That way, everyone's clear.

thats fuked up. i won't be ordering any ypipes from warpspeed, but i do have to get a lined flex replacement to cure my bees in can noise. ive searched and found no other alternatives for where i can order a lined flex.. so i just hope i dont run into any problems with them for this one small order.
Update: Well I finally decided to get the SFC's, so I gave them another shot. I ordered the Stage I and II about two weeks ago and they came in yesterday. They didn't ship them as soon as they had originally promised, but they also didn't take a real long time and the SFC's look real nice (black powdercoated). So I am a happy customer. Perhaps they were just real busy before....
I still can't figure out what the hell warspeed is doing. At times they can seem like they really are concerned with you as a customer, and then they bend you over the very next day. Warspeed sucks! Not calling customers back? Lack of any kind of communication between Dallas and the ordering dept. ( apparently they haven't figured out an effective means of communication like a computer or phone) Lying about new boxes that a b-pipe won't fit in? Two to three weeks to refund a customers money? Charging a restocking fee for their lack of communication? Warspeed sucks and they will never see another penny of mine.
I really want to get a y-pipe and am going to have the $$$ next week. Warpspeed seemed like the obvious choice, but not after all the negative feedback I have seen here on the .org Who else makes a reasonably priced Y-pipe?
Thanks

I got my SFC's about a week later than mentioned on the phone.
We wrap the heck out of the subframes to protect other packages they are shipping with so it may take a bit to unwrap them. Most times we ship within a couple of days of ordering but there have been a few where it took longer due to manufacturing delays. We manufacture them in our old shop and are keeping a few more on hand at our new shop where we ship out of.
Having said that if you have a specific need we ship next day most of the time and same day when we can. Like any other company we rely upon our vendors and when we use just in time inventory control it never seems to allow for lost shipments.

sorry to hear that happend. you know I have bad experiences sometimes too with places, but warpspeed really needs a break. they treated me like gold and it was appreciated. sometimes when you hear a story like this, it makes you wonder if its the same place. i believe that warpspeed is great and that they do their very best for the maxima community. sometimes things go wrong, its just that way, and it certainly sucks when it happens to you. glad things worked out in the long run for you.
i got all my ypipe, bpipe and muffler from warpspeed and its totally awesome .. !
