Help I think my Girlfriend got scamed on my Christmas Present

Ok she bid on a skyline front bumper on ebay from a guy named Glen-Jay at Rising Sun Enterprises. Has paid him 250 + 100 shipping over a week ago, and has still not received a tracking number. She has emailed him numerous times asking about it, but not reply. Scam or not? What do you think? Does anyone in the NY area know of this company or of this guy. Hopefully it is not a scam, and he has just been busy, but i thought maybe someone on here might know of him or his company. Thanks a lot.

If he has your money, file the complaint now. 350 bucks is alot... if he hasn't responded to any of your emails for a week, it's time to take action asap.

Just contact the credit card company and tell them to cancel the transaction.

Is your paypal linked to your credit card. If it is, you should get the money back, if it's linked to your bank account, you might be screwed. Good Luck.

Paypal will protect you for up to 30 days. And your credit card will protect you for much longer, several months even. I've disputed charges 2.5 months after the fact, and the credit card company will do it.

BTW, if he has deposited the money into his bank account, Paypal will most likely not give you your money back because they can't. They can only take money from his paypal account.

Yeah, it's really best to go straight to your credit card company, Paypal is a pain in the butt.

The 100 for shipping should have tipped you off. I used to deal with ups all of the time, and i know that it wouldn't even be half of that. i am really sorry to hear about your bad experience.

Re: Re: Help I think my Girlfriend got scamed on my Christmas Present

But for a body kit bumper, $100 is reasonable. That's what Sarona, Custommaxima, JT, VIS, Ninja, and all them charge. I agree that if you've got a driver who doesn't check the size, then you can get away with half that in shipping. But the bumpers are so bulky they are supposed to charge oversize and that puts it up around $100. But most companies ship via freight, and that is also $100.

This is Brandon's girlfriend, Ashley. I'm using his log in, because I don't have one of my own on here. Trust me, this guy I bought the bumper from did not sound like a scam person. THey sounded like a professional. 100 I thought was reasonable, like Shadow said because I know how much Custommaxima charges and stuff. I may be a girl but I'm not a complete car idiot

Anyways, I have emailed some people who have purchased from them in the past, and hopefully they will respond with some info shortly. I really hope I wasn't scammed, and that the person I bought it from has just been too busy to reply or something. I guess gotta hope for the best.

If anyone knows anything, please let us know!

Thanks!
Ashley

Ashley, did you pay via credit card through paypal? Brandon wasn't totally clear on that earlier. If you did, dispute the charge w/ your credit card company. They will give you your money back and take care of it with paypal themselves. Paypal is useless in getting your money back unless you paid via credit card.

PayPal won't help

Just check out paypalsucks.com or paypalwarning.com and others like it to see why you won't get any help from paypal. go the credit card route and they should refund your claim as long as you submit a complaint IN WRITING within 30 or 60 days. something like that.

This guy didn't get suspended from E bay over night, he must have had some history of bad business. If a person has little or no reviews, the most I'll risk is $20. For $350, you better have a long list of reviews. You got to check the reviews

Sorry--this is ashley--i'm using euromaxima's (brandon's) login again!

That's the thing--I did check his reviews. He had good ones--both seller and buyer ones. I don'tknow what's going on. I got a hold of this person's name and number--when I tried calling, I was hung up on. Hopefully paypal will get it taken care of. Trust me, I know this makes me look incredibly stupid, but this guy posed as a company, sounded professional, and it all fellinto place...Needless to say I have learned my lesson.

You're not stupid, people scam on the internet all the time. That's what makes it hard for legitimate businesses to gain customer confidence on the internet.

Did you contact your credit card company yet? Paypal may not be able to help you if he has emptied his account. If the money is not in his paypal account, they can't get it back. But if your credit card company contacts Paypal, then Paypal will refund your credit card company and you'll be credited back. Paypal doesn't care about individual users, only the big CC companies get any response out of them.

Hey--it's Ashley again,

I'm a dummy, and used my checking account. The bank said they couldn't do anything about it. I don't really know what to do. The person was verified, so surely they can do something about it right??

merry christmas!

Then you may be out of luck. Paypal can only take the money out of their paypal account if it's there. In extreme circumstances, Paypal will take money from their bank account, but that is very, very rare and takes a long time. So if he has withdrawn the money from his paypal account, they can do nothing. They will suspend his account, and put a negative balance on it, but if he has no plans to use that account anymore, then it doesn't matter.

If you had used your credit card, the credit card company would have refunded your money immediately and gone after paypal for it themselves. But as it stands right now, even if Paypal declares the seller liable for the charges, they can't get the money from him.

Finally got it Back!

Well on Christmas Eve, we got a pretty good Christmas present.....checked paypal to find I had a 350 deposit from the "so called company that ripped me off". To make a long story short, pay pal came through and I did get my money back!

Thanks for all the help!
