Thinking about canceling my order...
at custommaxima.com
I placed an order on the 18th for front/rear clears and 3 sets of polarg bulbs. That was on Saturday. I was hoping they would be here within the week cause there is a meet on Saturday and I wanted them on for that. Found out today that won't be happening. They haven't even shipped yet. Here's my real problem. They are charging me $19 Shipping!!! That sounds VERY high for some plastic lenses and some tiny bulbs. Not to mention the fact that it's UPS ground. I've shipped UPS before. I know how much ground costs. I've shipped much heavier things across the country for less than $10. In fact, I just bought a new intake today from Firm Fabrications, and they only charged me $12 for an INTAKE! What do you guys think? If they don't cut me a break on the rediculous shipping charge, should I order elsewhere?

When I am ready to put a Mod On my car, and I have the money to Buy, I don't have time to wait for the company to sort out their problems. Cancel the order and place it else where. $19 for Ground is a ripoff.
That is alot for ground. Looks like they use some sort of flat rate for shipments under xxx lbs. You know how much they can make by over charging $5 per order!?!
But you should have looked into this before entering the order.

I've thought about it since then, esp since I had my intake shipped for 12!!! and I just dont feel comfortable paying that. That really is an insult to their customers. I sent them a colorful email explaining that if my shipping cost isn't lowered, I'm gonna cancel. We'll see what they do. I will be sure and let EVERYONE know, whatever the outcome (hope they're reading this
)
Sorry you may not have known that but CustomMaxima.com has a trend of high shipping rates fixed from purchase amounts...you can try calling/emailing but I would not just arbitraily cancel the order without at least giving Greg a chance to make good on the order.
bear in mind I am no direct supporter of the site and have never bought anything from him...just have seen this online for a while.

yeah i ordered my first set of clears from custommaxima and the shipping was outragous, then on my second set(the pass side front flew off and the rears were stolen on my first set) i found procarparts.com has em for like 50 front and rear and i only paid about $6 for shipping

I think most of his profit is in the shipping rather then the product.
I think you might be waiting for a reply for a while. I would just cancel the order and buy from somewhere else. I hate it when companies charge outrageous shipping fees. I remember this website was charging $75 dollars for the shipping cost of Maxspeed springs.

If you place the order on the 18, we are only the 22nd, unless they told you they would ship the next days, to me it sound like normal situation, when I want something right away, I go in a speed shop or store that has it in stock and get it right away.
As for the shipping 19$ doesn't sound too much to me, well maybe you can argue for an hour and save 5-6$, but wait a minute, how much are you making per hours ? Look at all the time you are spending arguing about a freakin 5-6$, if you cancel your order and place it somewhere else, you would obviously have spend time and energy to save pocket change. I can understand that you are anxious to get your clear, but if you read your post again you might feel like a cheap guy.

If your a college student, I can understand that you want to save a bit of money. You should have notified them right away when you order. BTW I was not disrespectfull in my answer, I think it's a matter of good sense.
When I ordered my clear it cost me 45$ for shipping & customs fee and I didn't went public to discuss the matter. If you were a poor guy driving a POS car I would have compassion for you but looking at your sig, you doesn't look poor to me.
Good luck anyway.

Screw CustomMaxima.com
Hey everybody. For those of you that didn't read my previous thread about custommaxima.com charging $19 to ship my lenses and bulbs, I wrote them a letter complaining. Here is their response:
Dear Lloyd,
I am sorry you are not happy with the shipping and handling charges. Just to let you know, Custom Maxima does not make any profit on the items we ship. The prices for shipping that you have been charged are standard, I do apologize. Your order shipped out yesterday. If you are no longer interested in what you purchased, it is to late to cancel because they have already shipped. I would have appreciated notification much earlier so we could have prevented any conflict. If you decide you do not want these products because the shipping and handling charges are to much, then you do have the option of 'refusing the shipment' when UPS comes to drop them off.
Sincerely,
X X (names were changed to protect the innoc...oh, wait)

To which I replied...
"That’s weird. I called today and was told that my lenses were on backorder and my order was not going to ship until later in the week. By the way, $19 is NOT a standard shipping charge. It may be for Custom Maxima, but not for anywhere else. I have shipped SEVERAL packages UPS ground. In fact, I just shipped a 30 pound mixer to my mother who lives in Texas, via UPS ground, for $22. That’s $3 more than the shipping charge on my order, and the package I sent CERTAINLY weighed way more than what I ordered from Custom Maxima. Would you like to revise your statement?"
So not only have they gouged me on the shipping fee, they have lied to me as well. Don't think I will be doing any further business with these people.

Re: To which I replied...
I don't mean to be offensive here, but like many online transactions, did it not tell you exactly what the charges were? If you didn't feel that $19 was fair, which I really don't know so I have no opinion on that, then you should have never have submitted the order. Like any purchase, you really need to do your research about everything involved in the transaction. In the end, no one forces you to buy something.

I am sorry to hear about your issue mate, I ordered the front and rear clears from custommaxima on a Thursday, and, I recieved them the following Wednesday, I admit that $19 is a little steep, but, I felt that the price of the lenses + shipping was worth it. I wonder if this is a one off because I think I got a good deal, and, will certainly be ordering from them again.

It really doesn't take $15 in overhead cost for a company to ship out the merchandise. It is up to Greg on how to run his business, but ppl are watching.

I just looked back at my receipt from where I ordered clears and AE sills from CustomMaxima, and my shipping was 22 dollars. Maybe the minimum shipping charge is 19, then they go up from there. Like I said, if this is the case, they need to use another company.
I've had nothing but good experiences, both online, and by phone with CustomMaxima.com, so I'll probably continue to order from them, but that shipping is higher than a giraffe's a$$!
I must say this though... for a guy called MrCollegeGuy, you sure didn't THINK too much before you clicked the order button on your computer. Dude, if the rates are too high, shop elsewhere. Not trying to be a smart-a$$, but it's really your own fault. Chalk it up as a learning experience, take it like a man, and PAY UP!

It was like, 8 dollars. If they are charging Greg 19 dollars for the same transaction, he needs to find another shipper!!!

and CollegeGuy, you're not cheap. Like I said, I priced out that exact same setup and it's outrageous to increase the cost of the items by 40% ($49 stuff, $19 shipping) in shipping costs. That guy did call you cheap, you're not. It's crap that their shipping costs are so high... and that they haven't at least replied to my email yet, even if it was an auto-reply "we got your email and will read/reply as soon as possible."
I just replied to your other thread. I agree $19 is gouging, and that's not what they're charged so being lied to can leave a bad taste.
Anyway, you can always refuse to accept the item, then dispute the charge on your credit card as "not received"... I mean you didn't sign a contract when you ordered the item so you're not obligated to pay anything... and you should search around to see if being charged a "restocking fee" is illegal in your state. You have a very good argument that the transaction took place in your state and if your state says it's illegal, you don't have to pay it.
Live and learn, and know they lost a sale because I was about to buy front clears and bulbs from them, too.

Like I said to them in my letter. I shipped a 30 LB KitchenAid mixer to my mom for Christmas. It went from Atlanta to Dallas for $22!!! And that was at one of those Mailboxes Etc places, so you know there was SOME markup!! For the guy to just flat out lie to me about 1.) The actual cost of shipping and the fact that they don't make money off of it and 2.) That my order has already shipped and it's too late to do anything about it, thats just wrong. If I can't trust a place to tell me the truth, why should I spend my hard earned money there in the future?

As for my comment on thread count, I apologize, I meant post count, which is undeniably high given the true insignificance of this discussion. And yes, I understand you are trying to help people here save a few bucks, but they, like you, get to see what everything is going to cost them before they submit the order. If you make a mistake and it only costs you a few bucks, then consider yourself lucky since many mistakes can be much more costly. I guess the moral of the story is do your research before you buy something. And just because you donated to the org doesn't mean you have the right more so than others of posting your opinions here.
I guess you guys in the state are used to pay very little for shipping. Just to give you an example, I'm a discreet reseller in MTL, when I order a 3ds Max software that ship from San Raphael - CA it cost me 100$ US ( 163$ CDN ) for shipping and customs fee's. Here in Canada we are use to pay high price for shipping and handling, so I guess that's why at first I found ridiculus to argue about pocket change, but after reading all the informations, I understand your point that it was about the principle of honesty. When I made reference to the word " cheap " the meaning of cheap in my native language ( french ) is slightly different from english, so all my excuses if it sounds like an insult to you that was not my intention.

$19.00 for shipping some clears??? "DAYUMM" Like everyone else has said I say you should CANCEL your order. $19.00 for shipping some damn clears is jusr ridiculous.
