Do not bring your car to be serviced at Middletown Nissan, CT

And NEVER EVER EVER get it towed there. My car has been there since monday, 9pm and no one has even looked at it. It is now Thursday, 1 pm, and they will not return my calls or speak with me. Nissan Corporate also refuses to help, so I'm in a bind. I really just want the car so I can part it out.

Here is what happened/is happening to me:

Dropped car off so that Tuesday morning 1st thing would be fixed. 0101 Diagnosis reported; therefore, redundant scan by dealership Service department ODBII scanner not needed. Camshaft position sensor needed to be replaced, as reported in key dropoff envelope, and upon speaking with Service representative on Tuesday morning, 8am.

Waiting. Call back at 2:00pm. They will not get to my car today. Okay, they had a lot of cars, so I guess I can handle that.

Wednesday morning, 8:00 am: no idea if they will get to my car. Okay I don't know if I can handle that so much. Call back at 1:30 pm, and they say they will not have time to look at the car. Not so good with me; I need a car to drive. I call Nissan Corporate. Nissan Corporate is unable to help me with moving the car forward in the servicing area, so I call another dealership and see if they will take the car on Thursday morning. They say yes. The representative says fine.

Thursday morning, I call Middletown Nissan back and they will not release my car. The service manager says he will move my car up to be second. I cal at 1:00pm and no one answers, so I leave a message. I waited. 4pm they call to tell me they can get the part overnighted. I okay this only after being assured car would be completed Friday.

Friday AM no phonecalls. I call at about 11:30 am. They say no part until maybe Saturday, maybe Monday. I don't have to pay for overnight fee.

Call around to local dealerships. Manchester has part. Jerry Rome has part. In stock. Yet my part had to be overnighted from somewhere else, when they could have taken their parts truck to Manchester to get the part; it is about 15-20 miles at the most.

I refuse to pay for this attrocity of customer "service." I will have an all-out war with them when I go to get my car, I promise this.

I've had mixed results at Middletown Nissan. I originally went there after getting a quote for repair of my VTCs at Harte Nissan in Hartford. Harte quoted me $2,700 . Checked at Middletown and they quoted me $800. While Middletown would use the kit described in the TSB instead of replacing with new VTCs as Harte was going to do that still doesn't add up to the massive difference. Service manager seemed to understand the VTC issue and did them regularly. Had it done there. Job was done well at quoted price.

While there I also had them replace one of my CV boots (I had noted cracked boot while doing oil change). Had a private mechanic replace left side for about $300. Boot replacement on the right was $150 and manager said when boot is caught early like this no need to change. I gained confidence in them in that they didn't try to sell me what I didn't need.

Later I had a hole in my front pipe. Local garage wanted about $450 to replace with non OEM pipe. Middletown did it with Nissan part (saw box) for $350. Another plus for Middletown.

However, I had had my brakes previously done by Midas at 70,000 miles. Both rear calipers were frozen and had to be replaced at that time. Now only 40,000 miles later I find parking brake hanging up. Midas says one caliper is frozen again and quotes about $800 for four wheel pads and disks plus one replacement caliper. Thinking this is high and leery of off brand parts (the last off brands didn't last long) I brought over to Middletown.

They come back with a quote for just the rear pads, disks, and two calipers, plus parking brake cable replacement at $1,200. A lot higher but hey, I'm getting OEM service and parts, right? Wrong. When I pick up the car I ask to see the old calipers. They're in a no-name rebuild company box. What did I pay these big bucks for? They said OEM calipers would be even higher. You would think that when you go to the dealer you shouldn't have to specifically check if OEM parts are going to be used do you? If I had known this I would have stuck with the same no brand parts from Midas for big bucks less.

On top of this when I drove the car out the ABS light comes off. A bad wheel sensor. Good road test on the brakes right? They said it could'nt be related to their work (right ) but will take care of it. Ok, plus for them. Part is ordered and I schedule early morning appointment to save losing work time shuttling back and forth to work. Says it should be 1 hour. After 2 hours I'm told they have the wrong part. Have to reorder and reschedule. This time I say "you'll get my car in first thing and back to me in an hour since I've wasted this trip". Sure they say . Next time they get the right part but it takes about 2 1/2 hours.

Moral of the story, even when you think you've found a straight forward, got it together shop, it can go downhill fast.
