I took My car a 2K maxima SE into Geis Nissan this morning to have them look at the same problem for the second time in the last 2 weeks. Something seems to be draining the electrical system causing the battery to go dead and when you jump it, it's ok starts and restarts fine but if the car sits 6 hours or more the battery is dead again. The first time I took the car in The Service Dept said it was a dead battery and replaced it with a new one. The car was normal for about 10 days and the battery is dead again this past week. So this morning I take the car it to have them look at it and after an hour the service guy says something is draining the system and they will need a couple of days, I say fine just give me a loaner. They give me an Altima which is dirty inside and out and says's this is all they have since it's saturday and all the loaners are out. So I go to My car to get some things out and I notice all the other cars in the service lot are facing in, all but mine so I do a walk around and I see that my rear bumper has been damaged. It was side swiped in the service bay area.. My car is Icelandic Pearl so it looks like you took a paint brush with black paint and painted the rear bumper. I go and chew the service guy a new A**Hole because the car is 5 months old and did'nt have a scratch.. He says they will take care of it and I won't be able to tell that it was damaged..My point is the bastards tried to hide the damage by backing it into the parking spot like I would not have noticed it!!!...Just had to vent...Thanks

I think they were...

..going to try and fix the damage before I picked up the car, that's why it was backed in the parking space. Their an automall so they have a body shop on site. But since the car was just washed before I took it in, the damage stood out like an eyesore. We'll see what kind of repair job they do. If I'm not satisfied then I'll talk to My lawyer.

Give them HELL!!

Holy Sheit!!
they accidentally scratched your car?
oh darn it--I would give them hell like you did!! good job. I realized that Nissan service is just simply freaking horrible. Is there anyone else who can say they have not been pissed off at them?

That is very bad, trying to back the car in the other way--and YES, they were probably praying and had both their toes and fingers crossed that you didn't catch it.

Make sure they do a good job, or ask for a new bumper--which is the very least they can do for screwing up your car.

I was wondering--does anyone know what the policy is, usually for incidents like this--where your car gets messed up at a shop--be it dealer/non dealer?

Well Humaras.....

..as of yet I've not seen the repair job they have done. The service department called me on the 12th of this month, I took the car in on the 10th and said that the radio had a short and that's what was draining the battery and that a new unit would be ordered and My car was at the bodyshop as we spoke to have the bumper repaired. And since it's snowing here in New York I'll drive their loaner for a few days more before I give them a call, so I don't have to put my baby in the snow.

Well I took my wife's Z3 in to have the rear window plastic repaired. They (BMW Fairfax) take the car to soft top specialist - anyway on the way over to specialist the service guy (valet) took a corner too hard and ended up fish tailing and side swiping another car, and hitting a sign. End result - Needed a new hood, bumper and right headlight assembley and some other things. End result was that they tried not do certain things like a new hood (said the could fix the scratches and realign the hood). I told them to got to hell and had the car towed to another dealer which did the work and let my insurance company collect from BMW Fairfax. I have actually got to the point of taking pictures of my car before I take in for major repairs.

But to the result I found out - if it was one of the dealers staff (valet, tech, or salesman) driving the car - they have to repair it to the exactly the condition it was in when you brought the car in. Though they try to argue it always!

.. as of this month the car has been into the dealer 4 times for the drainage problem and once for a bad mass air flow sensor. They said the radio had a short and that was the cause and that My sheepskin covers were pressing against the power seat buttons which also drained the battery, I told them the covers were on 4 months before the problem first started...but I took them off anyway and 2 days later the drainage was back. So far they have not found the problem...So I have a few options I'm looking into to get justice.

just crappy

It is just crappy the way some of these dealers operate. If they damage something, especially a BMW, then fix it...heck, you want the guy to come back and buy another car from you--not tell everyone they know who could potentially buy a car to go elsewhere. I just don't understand their mentality.
I also have to say that I have dealt with a lot of morons in the dealerships...speaking in their big lingo bs...heck, if it weren't for us buying and driving their darn cars, they'd be out shoveling horse manure.

what is with them is what I don't understand. A course in customer service seems to be in order.

Now you to go ahead and get me started...

I took my MR2 to a dealer for some simple maintenance items. One of them was to rotate the tires. At the time, the tires and wheels were stock, with umm, 215s (?) in back and 195s in front. They were plain-jane tires so direction of rotation was not a concern . I made sure to tell the, ahem, 'service advisor' to have them rotated side to side, not front-to-back. Sure enough, I get the car back and notice that it's driving sorta weird, like the back end is really loose - not good on a mid-engine car. I took a closer look and saw that the rear lugs were sticking out about a full inch from the wheels, and that the front tires were on the back and vice versa! Yeah yeah yeah, I probably should've noticed that when I picked the car up, but you'd think the idiot with the lug wrench would've A) read the service ticket and rotated them properly, B) noticed that the tires are different sizes and make sure the big ones stay in back, and C) notice that the lug nuts are sticking out a full inch as he's putting them on!! Freaking DUH!!

I went back to the dealer to get them put on correctly, after telling the advisor that the handling was kinda dangerous the way they put them on wrong. There was not a single word of apology or admission of a mistake, no discount on my next service, nothing. Just amazing. I could not possibly agree more with people who complain about most dealer service departments. After finding that simple tire problem, do you think I'll ever let them touch my turbo?!?
