K&N

Just wanted you to all know about the "experience" I had with K&N and my local dealer. I'll make this short.. I have a 2K max. In the AM, the engine would stall as soon as you would put it in gear. Only did it while it was cold. After a minute warm up, it was fine. I took it to the dealer as I have the securityPlus. They found a TSB with this probelm and "fixed" it so they say. Reprogram the ECU. Well I picked up the car and NOW... the engine was stalling in gear at idle when it was warm. (at stop lights etc) Now it's worse than what it was. I took it back. After the tech looked at it again I got this call from the service manager. He informed me that I have a bad MAF. I said, ok... isn't that covered under the warranty? Well yes... BUT...because I had a K&N fliter installed, the MAF was damaged by a "aftermarket" filter. After I picked myself off the floor, I said.. you got to be kidding... they weren't. Nothing I could do at the moment so I had to pay $407 to get my car. Well after many phone calls to K&N and Nissan in Calif., Nissan has agreed to pay me back the money. K&N was very helpful in getting this resolved and Nissan in Calif says this. Just because I had an aftermarket filter does not void the warranty. If the product was installed incorrectly, then the warranty could be void. This applies to any part, Nissan or other. The Nissan customer service rep I talked to was very nice and helpful as well as the K&N folks. SO... I now have my K&N filter back in my car.
