Noob question, but i donno who to ask so here goes..
I ordered a part from courtesy nissan about 3 weeks ago, and i paid my purchase plus shipping with my credit card.
today my part arrived but i wasn't around to recieve it, so i got this notice saying it will be delivered again tomorow. and it says it has a Brokerage C.O.D due for CDN$44.70... whoa.. they keep trying to take money from me. what is that $44.70 for?
the part itself costs USD$47 and shipping is like USD$27.15.. the entire purchase comes to about CDN$108, so if that CDN$44.70 was for customs and taxes it means they're charging me 41% in taxes for this thing? what the?
anyone else canadian who bought stuff from the states that had to pay huge extra fees?

Yep, that's customs. I sent a $100 gift to my parents for their anniversary and they had to pay $45 in customs fees. When I go visit them in August, I'm taking Canadian street signs to make up for it.

Who was the shipping company for this order?
I ordered a new set of foglights for my 2K2 from Jerry Rome Nissan when they had their special on, and I also ordered the foglight protection film from a fellow org member and had them shipped to Canada. I did not pay any brokerage fees whatsoever. I have heard that if you can get your stuff shipped through USPS (that's what I did), you stand a lot better chance of avoiding the brokerage fees. Companies like UPS and Fedex screw you hard in this area.
