Please note that I make no money off of this. This is just an FYI.

Ok, I received my Amsoil Preferred Customer packet Friday and have started doing some digging on applications for our cars. Here Goes:

Oil:

Amsoil makes 2 kinds of oil,

- 5W-30 (ASL stock #) or 10W-30 (ATM stock #) Synthetic
Price: $4.45(5.70) per quart or $51.00(67.20) for 12 quarts, also available in a 1 gallon container (a good deal) for $17.75(22.20), and (4) 1 gallon containers(an even better deal) for $67.60 (87.20).

Details: Lasts for one-year or 25,000 miles, no matter the conditions. Only requires filter change at 6 months or 12,500 miles with an Amsoil SDF series filter.

- XL-7500 5W-30 or 10W-30 Synthetic
Price: $4.15(5.20) per quart or $47.40(61.20) for 12 quarts, but unavailable in 1 or 2-1/2 gallon containers, while available in 30 and 55 gallon drums.

Details: Lasts for six months or 7,500 miles, no matter the conditions. Recommends use with an Amsoil filter, but any good one (Purolator, AC Delco, Mobile 1, etc.) will do.

Oil Filter:

- 89 to 94 Maximas (VG30 and VE30 engines),# SDF84
Price: $8.70 (11.40)

- 95 to 00 Maximas (VQ30DE engine),# SDF13
Price: $10.20 (13.40)

Details: Amsoil's SDF oil filters are stated by Amsoil to last 6 months or 12,500 miles, whichever comes first. The test results they provided with the packet makes this filter appear to be marginally better than the Mobile 1 Filters. So, like I thought, Mobile 1 oil filters are probably good for 10,000 miles easily.

Synthetic Universal ATF:
Price: $5.70(7.55) per quart or $65.40(89.40) for 12 quarts, also available in a 2-1/2 gallon container (a good deal) for $53.65(71.75), and (2) 2-1/2 gallon containers (an even better deal) for $102.20 (141.50).

Details: Amsoil states in their product literature that their ATF lasts 3 times longer than conventional. I've heard conventionals last from 15,000 to 30,000 miles depending on driving conditions, so 50,000 to 100,000 miles is probably the drain interval, with my money being on 75,000 miles. From what I've been told, most "Trans-Matic" ATF fluid replacement stations (at Penske Auto Centers) want 15 to 20 quarts of ATF to completely flush your auto transmission, even though the capacity is around 10 or 11 quarts.

Fuel Filter:

- 85 to 00 Maximas,# GF147
Price: $12.30 (16.40)

- 85 to 00 Maximas wanting to use 300Z filter,# GF270
Price: $11.80 (15.75)

Details: This is another Hastings product, and cannot be ordered online through Amsoil's website. However, you can order it as part of the Preferred Customer program by calling Amsoil directly when you place your order. There's nothing "special" that I saw regarding these filters, so they may be no better than Nissan OEM stuff.

If you're interested in getting any of these products, you may notice that the prices above. Those listed directly are the dealer wholesale prices that I receive for being an Amsoil Preferred Customer. The prices in parenthesis are what you will pay through a dealer.

Shipping Prices from Amsoil:

1 to 3 lbs. $4.30
4 to 6 lbs. $4.75
7 to 12 lbs. $5.45
13 to 19 lbs. $6.60
20 to 39 lbs. $.32 per lb.
40 to 59 lbs. $.28 per lb.
and so forth.

It's definitely worth the money to become an Amsoil Preferred Customer. $10 gets you membership for 6 months and $20 gets you membership for a year. The ATF purchase alone will pay for the membership costs, so it's definitely worth it. If you're interested, contact "Got Rice?" at gotrice10@yahoo.com and he'll send you a form to sign up and you'll be sponsored by him.
