Service department will not repair faulty ECM on Y2K+ Maxima with 5 speed once outside the 12mo/12,500 mi "adjustment period" irrespective of the fact that the TSB solution to this very vexing problem was issued only March 21, 2001. "Since no parts are being replaced, it's an adjutment". This despite the fact that Nissan deems the reprogram to carry a new (get this) part number. I was told categorically that the ECM is not a component of the powertrain, thus not covered under the 50,000/60 powertrain warranty. If you're planning a purchase, you need to know the nuances of their interpretation of your proposed warranty coverage.
