I spent HOW MUCH on my Stillen Supercharger?!?!
$3916 you say? CORRECT!
Now I figured for that amount of money I would at least get some decent Customer Service/Support if I ever needed it.
But do I?? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!
I called them today to let them know that last night while driving down the Garden State Parkway, all of a sudden my battery light came on and my car would not boost.
I pull over because I knew I had lost the blower belt AGAIN.
I look under the hood and the belt is completely off the pulleys but looks in perfect condition.
So I spend $175 to get it towed to my friends shop.
This morning he looks at it and finds the culprit....
The Idler pulley (plastic) had just fallen apart...
So, reasonably enough, I ask them to kindly send me a new one since there IS a One-Year Warranty on this kit.
The Customer Service MANAGER Bill Claytor tells me that they will not Warranty ANYTHING for me because it's obvious that I race the car...because this does not happen with everday driving. So he said that my warranty is completely void and anything that goes wrong will be MY responsibility from now on...
To make a long story slightly shorter....
I ended up having to pay for the pulley....
A WHOPPING $15.00!!!
COME ON! I spend $4,000 on my SC kit and they cant even warranty a DAMN $15.00 part!!!
&(*^%&@#% STILLEN!
I will NEVER buy another Stillen product as long as I live.
From this point on I am BOYCOTTING Stillen!

Umm they sell stuff for race purposes. I would report them to BBB and get a lawyer and sue the **** out of them. That is the MOST bs **** I have ever heard.

I read some other guys were complaining about that plastic pulley tensioner. I think some have made a metal one that's alot stronger. I would start searching around for that thread. Phil96se or someone has it done.
I think the new plastice piece will probably break also.

You are lucky aleast they would sell you the part. Imagine if they wouldn't and you were stuck with what you got. The main reason I went with nitrous was not to deal with Stillen. Bill is an *******. I delt with him once and he was the biggest ***** EVER. Too bad I don't live in the west coast. I would love to stop by Stillen and go postal.

hey 4DSC, how do they know u race your car anyways? u told them or they ossume? So if I never went to the track but beat the **** out of it on the street, I am considered not to be racing my car? Or the other way around, I save it for the track and drive normally on the street.
I don't understand
Revenge to make a point...
What is the name of the customer service person you spoke to. If every one here who cares calls him three times a day to polightly ask him about racing voiding racing parts I think he would get the point. We would also agrivate the ****ss out of him. I'll be glass to call the arshole a few times to agrivate the ****s out of him. Call up, order a SC, them just before you confirm ask about the warenty and racing, tell him that you think that the way they handled you s*cks.
Any one else game?

Have you paid any amount with a credit card? -->
If so, contest the charge. Than way you will get some money back and they will enter the "black list" of the crediting institutions. This accompanied with are report to the BBB will make a strong case. They will have to pay a penalty charge to the credit company.
Arm yourself all the evidence you can and with enough witnesses. Take your warranty documents to an attorney and have it read it.

Stillen...
I dunno, we should try a mass e-mail bug the hell out of them that way, overload their server and such... I never really liked stillen, overpriced, bad customer service... something like my experiences with NOPI...but that's another story
adam.. that sucks doOd.. here's my take on things.. stillen sucks! never ever ever buy anything from them.. i went thru 3 yes thats right 3 pulleys and they kept blaming me for their defect.. these pulleys are plastic.. why? because stillen cheaped out on us.. as your well aware the jackson racing kits for hondas and others all have aluminum pulleys.. why? well they seem to think a s/c is used for racing.. stillen however sees it as a money making product.. after my 3rd one went i decided it was time to forget about stillen and get custom made ones.. my idle adjuster was custom cnc'ed and has been happy eversince.. i think stillen was marginal with the plastic.. when i say taht i mean if you raise the boost you cross the line and all hell breaks loose.. get this.. stillen said i was at fault why? oh thats easy because i was revving the car
that really clears things up doesn't it.. anyway like i said don't buy anything from stillen.. if you have time lemme know and i can work up a deal for the elusive aluminum cnc'ed pulley
course that will have to wait as im going to get severly drunk since classes are over.. oh yeah and the show this weekend.. but i shall return
moral of story.. stillen knows all, we just don't understand it

That's complete BS. How can they expect to keep customers if they treat them this way? If they didn't have a monopoly on so many items they would never, EVER get away with this.
Whats up with this?
How can they treat their customers like this? Esp one that spent 4g's on a SC?? MY4DSC, I feel for you man. There is no way I would take this crap. I would go higher than this Bill Claytor character and present my case. Since when did one put an SC in their car and be expected to drive normal? This guy is a fool. I call on all who really cares to call Stillen and let them know what we think. This is a damn shame since Stillen is the primary manufacturer for Maxima mod's. I too was in the market for their SC but after hearing what you went through...why even bother? Come Monday I'm gonna call this guy just to see what he say's. One
Dont email stillem thats way to tacky and cheap, you have to call them and what was that guys name again. I dont even own a supercharger but I will order mine through avalon racing or cattman. Sure they are all stillen products but I bet if we have problems with them and we call cattman or avalon they will get a new part for us.

I told him that I needed him to call me back ASAP so that we could get this part I needed shipped out Overnight Air because I need to get the car running for a race this weekend.
I didnt think that telling him that would void my warranty!
My point exactly...what difference does it make if I drag race the car occasionally....you can beat the snot out of the car on the street just as bad...if not WORSE!
AAAAARRRRGGGGHHHH!!!!

I'm getting all worked up again.
I WISH I LIVED IN CALI...cuz tomorrow is Stillen's OPEN HOUSE....There would be no house left after I was done.
This is the worst news I've heard in awhile...I just decided today that I was fixin to buy a s/c and body kit from stillen. I can't believe it -> I've been thinking about this for over a month, and the day I decide to get it I hear this. Oh well. Guess I don't want one anymore. I think I'll either get it somewheres else or get something else.
Stillen has showen pretty bad service since I first got my maxima nearly 3 years ago. They don't really care about customer satisfaction, and have done this type of thing to many people already. They also aren't very nice to their retailers. Ask SGP racing... VERY well known in the Z community. SGP refuses to do business with Stillen because they got screwed byt stillen. Infact thre's a stillen banner in their garage with very funny stuff writtne on it, and it's not nice.
Stillen part = expensive = bad customer service exprience for some.

that's really sad... they must really be making money off the honda boys because the way they treat us is pathetic. stillen has to realize that someone who buys a $4k product from them is going to have connections (ie max.org) to spread the word that stillen was too cheap to send out a $15 peice of plastic that was poorly designed in the first place.
:shakes head:
:shakes head:
Stillen = Stealin
Stillen SUCKS, don't know if any of you remember me, about 2 1/2 years ago I got the Stillen S/C and **** was missing, not aligned right and the instructions sucked *****. Anyways, They NEVER took care of me, they ****ed me around told me this told me that. Made up an excuse I had a "BETA" unit, hey that beta unit I got, I paid for. Adam Hume, salesperson from what I heard was a two faced guy. Acted like he was willing to help me, then to other fellow maxima owners cut on me told a completely diff. story. I got into it with the "then" manager Jeff. He told me to f-off. I was a customer that bought EVERYTHING THEY HAD TO SELL for a Maxima. Still got treated like ****. The product is OVER PRICED. Thank god I got rid of my Maxima, I don't have to deal with those jokers. Now I have REAL customer service for my NSX with Dali Racing, and Comptech, not that Comptech prices aren't high but the customer service and the product is a LOT better!

F#CK stillen the only thing they make for a Maxima that I would buy is the body kit, everything else they sell, they buy from someone else slap their name on it and mark up the price like hell. I delt with them once and just asked them a question and they were ****s about it. There website absolutly sucks a$$. I have allready boycoted Stealin' and if I ever get up the rediculos amount of money for the very very overprice ground effects kit (that is no body kit by any means) I might get it but nothing else will I buy from them.
After reading my sales aggrement regarding the warranty on the SC it is clearley stated, that if you put a smaller pulley on you VOID your warranty, also this would not of happened if you stuck with the pulley they supplied in the kit. What he said about racing is a whole nother story though, but you do not have a warranty for the reason I stated above. Anyways I see people ***** about Stillen all the time and I am sure they have there reasons, but I have had many good experiences with Stillen and they have been more then willing to help me with any problems I have counter. Try a new sales man, maybe Dean.

The new clutch is going to be installed on Wednesday next week. Hopefully it will just be a simple Clutch change. I talked to a mechanic at Stillen today and told him the whole story about what happened and he said it sounds like just the Clutch is dead. I will find out on Wednesday and I will let you all know. BTW thanks for asking.
Even though MY4DSC might have voided his warranty by getting a small pulley, he shouldn't have been treated the way he did by that idiot. It's just a shame that Stillen really don't give a care for his customers. Problem is that Stillen is the only maker that make part such as a supercharger for the Maxima. He knows that a few customer complaints aren't going to hurt him. He knows that there'll be many others to buy his parts. So, who cares about a few customers, right? *sigh* What can we really do though? Somehow, I don't think we can really do enough to change anything at Stillen.

Sorry to hear about your incident. I'm sure you can use info@stillen.com, or sales@stillen.com, or webmaster@stillen.com or even steve.millen@stillen.com to get your point across.
When Jane had her problem, she directly called Steve Millen and talked to the man himself. All the major problems got fixed afterwards, but we still had to deal with the minor ones that they couldn't solve.
I would say forward this thread to them, but you voided your warranty by changing the SC pulley. If you didn't do that, then they would have no say on your idler pulley. Good luck working this thing out.

What happened to you is not right, it really doesn't take much investigation to figure that out.
I've looked at Stillen's web site over the last few years, and they don't cut the mustard as far as I'm concerned. Compare them to a tuner like IPD for Volvo and it's amazing--you think IPD is expensive but you know what you're getting, someone who's been around for decades. They pride themselves on customer service.
I'm sorry our hero is having troubles, but I think I missed something...
-The SC warranty explicitly states: "No smaller pulleys." Is that right? I think somebody mentioned that.
-Our guy knowingly & willingly voided the SC warranty by having a smaller pulley installed. Is that true? I think so.
-When our hero had the smaller pulley installed, he assumed *all risk*. By definition, "all risk" means "all risk".
-Once he assumes all risk, that means he pays, right?
Surely our hero must have contemplated that, once a smaller pulley was in place, something might break? I'm sure all the Stillen salesmen tried to explain that to him, but a Manager-Level associate ended up talking with him, too. I wonder how many folks our hero *****ed at before someone finally told him to f***-off? And all over a $15 part?! (It's been my experience that if a Manager-Level Associate tells a customer to F***-off, that customer richly deserved it! Think about that...)
If you play, you pay. How often have we all heard that? If I got a Stillen SC, and the warranty explicitly stated: "NO GREEN HATS", then I wouldn't wear a d@mn green hat! And if I decided I *was* going to wear a green hat, I would not go crying to mama about a $15 part afterwards!
Boycott? SHOOT! If our hero promises to stop his *****ing, I'll be tempted to send him $15 and a box of Kleenex.
Sorry. My .02. Good luck.

If they voided it for that reason i would understand....
But...They voided my warranty SIMPLY because I had raced the car.
That is complete Bull $HIT!!!!!!
And Guess what?!

I just got the pulley I ordered...AND ITS THE WRONG ONE!!!!
NOW I AM COMPLETELY ****ED!!!

Sorry to here about the wrong part, that sucks even more! I wonder if they will now reimberse you for the over night delivery charge and the $15 part? I sure hope so because if I was in your shoes I would be pretty ****ed off right about now. Best of luck to you,and I think you should consider having a custom pully made out of metal so this unfortunate incident does not reocure. BTW this topic was disscused on clubmaxima, you may want to check the thread out.

Stillen has NO IDEA I changed the pulley smart @$$.
They voided my warranty for racing the car...
THAT is the issue.
Take your $15, box of Kleenex, AND YOUR $.02 and shove it in that big mouth of yours.

Gee Jon you sure didn't think that when you had the Stillen muffler on your car, or the Stillen intake on your '92. I will admit they are overpriced though. And the experience w/ customer service has been quite good, you guys talk to Ryan. But yes I will admit that is pretty F$#ked up of them to not warranty a $15 part.
