Raxles...

I received my axles from Raxles, I forgot the guys name, ah I think it's Marty but not shure, anyway what a nice guy to deal with, this gentleman obviously is a master in customer service. I receive the package by UPS friday, the axles are very well packed, this is like a piece of art, sort of This product is very well design and assembled. It will go on maybe next week-end.

Thanks to Irish for the lead.

good stuff...

I also just received my new passenger-side Raxle (damn, that's big and heavy with the new bracket and bearing on it!). Received it 2 days after calling Marty. Figured I might as well do this one too before winter.

also, my car is on his site in "cutomer's cars"

Now I need to order some new wheel hub & bearing. I have a lot of work in front of me to do on the max this coming winter but I'm shure it's going to be all fun.

I just replaced front right bearing. I just picked up a front left spindle from an I30 at a junkyard with only 30K miles on it (seems like the bearing is good), and have both rear hubs on the way (I think mine are ok, but at 110K miles might as well replace them. That's in addition to replacing the passenger's driveaxle (sitting in the basement) and left rear caliper (won't retract)....

Hopefully I'll bust all that out next weekend with the holiday...I feel your pain though. Nothing worse than bearings, since you can't press them out yourself (at least not easily).

+1 to Raxles. Replaced both of mine a few months back, lucky for me he is local and I could do local pickup. A great experience from start to finish.

I believe mine ran ~170 per axle iirc...not 100% positive, so dont quote me on that, but I think it was right around there.

this may appear as a stupid question. but i would really like to know the answer.

Why are there so many people replacing their axles? Are they bending? Are the newer one's lighter?

just got off the phone with raxles. its just under 160 a side for 00s shipping for me is about 30 bucks, they said i could have them in a few days. cant wait to get mine.

and the axles themselves arent upgraded or lighter, basicly im just using it as a stock replacement, but its much cheaper to do it thru raxles than with oem.

im replcing cause im too low and putting too much stress on the joints. i got quite a lesson on the 17degree limit on cv's formt he guys at raxle.
currently there is no axle out there to accomidate my drop. mainly cause accordign to them(and it makes sence) im just asking my axles to bend the rules of physics.

oddly enough this will be my third pass side axle(both old ones were non-raxle) but my driver sides still peachy after all this time.

The difference is that Raxles are NEW C/v joints, not remanufactured like you'd get at the Nissan Dealer or Autozone - that's why they're so good. It is an upgrade over other C/V axles.

I did the driver's side a couple months ago. I'm doing the pass. side because I think the bearing (on the support bracket) is bad, and at 110K miles I might as well replace it now before the original one goes bad in the dead of winter

I actually unbolted the bracket from the car (4 bolts) and seperated it from the axle off the car....that was MUCH easier!

thank you for responding, the 4 bolts where are they exactly? Is it possible to do this lying underneath the car?

yes, you will need a ratchet, short extention, and possibly a universal joint. The bolts are what hold the bracket onto the frame of the car and are 3-4 inches from the other bolts.

It's still a PITA though, unfortunately. But it was the only way I could seperate the bracket from the axle

I see you live in Canada.....did you have the package shipped to Canada? If so, would you mind sharing what your shipping costs were? Also, how bad did UPS hit you with their bogus "brokerage" fees?

Thanks.

The next time you do it could you note what size the bolts were ? Did you have to bang it off the axle the bracket or you took it to a shop to have it pulled?
thankxs

IIRC the bolts were 17mm.

We banged it off the bracket with a big hammer...

thanks for helping me out, the idea you gave me to remove the bracket from the car itself worked out nicely. Strangely it was 3 14 mm bolts, once the bracket was off I hammered it off.
