Whats an avg price for this particular installation
Ok, i am going to have professional installed the following
4 Boston Acoustic speakers (2 to the rear, 2 to the front doors)
1 Eclipse Cd Player head unit
2 amps (1 for my 10 inch Sub, and 1 to power the speakers)
Once place quotes me for 170 manual labor and a grand total of 250 bucks with parts (like amp wiring ect.)
another place quotes me for 205 manual labor and like 100 in parts, so about 305.
are those normal?
thanks
bryan

Re: Whats an avg price for this particular installation
It varies according to their level of expertise and how good the job was done.
In H-Town going with the normal chains like Cartoys you'd be looking at $85 for the BA's (unless it's comps then it's going to cost more), (HU install is usually free if you buy the HU from them) for the Eclipse i'd say $75 sounds right and the amps would roughly be $70 each. + Parts and tax.
Another shop in Houston that's know for their excellent work (Custom Car Stereo) charges per hour and takes significantly longer but their work speaks for itself. (But again, it's gonna cost a pretty penny)

Install
I'm on the West Coast and prices here, in general, I mean for just about anything, are a little out of control and therefore not relevant. However, to the extent possible, get some background info. on your installer. Ideally go with someone who has been at it for a while and is capable on complicated installs (regardless of what you are having them do). I've actually had experiences with a chain store where they took the crossover (basically stealing) and used the stock on separates! When I had an amp, head unit and sub installed by a professional outfit they were a little curious as to where the crossovers went for my seperates. Hopefully this is of use.
