which product to remove swirl marks?

I read that they have specific producs that would remove swirl marks... and w/ superblack paint, my paint is full of micro scratches and such.. along w/ the swirl marks.

What products have you guys come across that works best against swirls? Also, is it something I could find locally?

I use Meguiars #9 Swirl Remover. You can use it by hand or machine. And it isn't too aggressive that it'll damage the paint. My car is arctic pearl white, and it gives it a mirror, but "wet" finish, ready for waxing. I can only imagine the depth it will give you on your superblack!

Since Meguiar's was mentioned, you might want to consider Meguiar's Dual Action Cleaner Polish. This product is effective in getting swirls out.

I am also going to be experimenting with 3M's Perfect-It III.

I already have 3M Swirl Remover for Dark Colored Cars and Meguiar's #9 Swirl Mark Remover.

I'd still try to get the Meguiar's or 3M swirl removers but Scratch-X is rumored to work too. If they're not strong enough I think Wal Mart sells 3M Rubbing Compound in the body repair section. Major chain stores usually aren't the best picks for stuff like this.

I just detailed my car today and used scratch x on the entire car, by the time i was done though it was getting dark so I couldnt really get a good look at how well it worked. From what I could see tho, it really did a good job getting rid of swirls and scratches, Ill have a better look in the daylight tomorrow. I followed up the scratch x with meguiars show glaze then a coat of gold class wax.

When I first waxed my car I got bad swirl marks over the whole car. I used the Mequiar's cleaner over the whole car buffed it out and used a polish, buffed it out, then used a wax. All swirl marks were completely removed and car looked beautiful. I only do this process once a year over entire car to keep an extremely smooth finish.

I've used all the products mentioned. The 3M swirl remover for dark color cars is AWESOME! Second to that one is the Meguire's swirl remover. If you want something with a combination the paint cleaner with wax works well, but the 3M is better and the Meguire's swirl remover is better as well.

The Meguire's scratch-X works well, but doesn't really last that long. It merely hides the scratches and doesn't actually get rid of them. Plus it's only meant to be applied by hand so it takes a while.

Try using a product like/smilar to this:

Meguiars #9 is pretty easy to use.

I've used this on my black car for the last 3 years with great results. Keep in mind that what you do after you've removed the swirls is what's really important.

Use the right tools for your car care program to make sure that you don't create more swirls every time you wash your car. Like using soft 100% cotton towels for drying, etc......

I follow up with a few coats of Meguiars Gold Class and my black car looked like it was made of black glass.

Good luck,

Bob

Meguiars Swirl Remover or Dual Action Cleaner Polish for a little more cutting power.

How does everyone wax their car? Meaning do you use small circles to apply wax? I do not use small circles I go from front to back with almost straight lines. I've read that circles bring out swirl marks due to the angle that the car is being seen at constantly. I havbe used this method and have not had any problems with swirl marks ever again.

The straight line tip is a "just in case" suggestion because scratches made in straight lines (on the horizontals) are less visible than sideways scratches. The same is true but different for the vertical panels - go up and down. You don't have to if you're pretty careful about dust, but that said, that's how I do my car.
