Machine Wax or Hand Wax???

Is one better than the other? Are there special products for machine waxing?

hand wax is the ONLY way to go IMO....that way, if you scratch anything, you know you did it urself, not the machine

Machine waxing is sometimes faster if you have (any) liquid wax. I've found that doing it this way gets the coat of wax thinner so buffing is easier, and its faster simply because the applicator is so much larger than a hand app. Some waxes are so easy to apply though, that you only save a few minutes by the time you count the time it takes to bring everything out and put it away again. Results are usually the same because you're just gently applying stuff. By the way, I don't know what kind of "machine" you're referring to, but waxing should be done by random orbital, not rotary.

Using a RO machine to do things is no more dangerous than doing it by hand as long as you're using it as intended and keep the paint and applicators clean.

I spent the better part of today playing with my new toy...a Porter Cable Random Orbit Polisher. I have hand waxed for 20+ years...till today. I can't begin to tell you how great this machine is!! I will never hand polish again.

I used Menerza's final polish and then Klasse AIO. I will do the Sealant Glaze tomorrow and a second coat Monday. Even before the sealant glaze, I can't tell you how fuking great it looks!!

I'll post pics next week after I'm done.

That brings up another point I forgot - there's not a lot of advantage to waxing by machine, but with tools like the Porter Cable, there is a big advantage with polishing. Polishing by hand is a pain...

Exactly....using the polish with the PC really added depth to the finish. I was impressed especially considering my car only has 9000 miles and is garaged.

For the wax, the PC cuts down the application time and seems to apply a more even layer than by hand.

I use my orbital for everything except paint sealant. I'll Z5, then Z2 and it's awesome. Then another layer of Z2 later. The orbital is the way to go if you do many layers of polishing and waxing. Zaino makes it easy as is

There's no major advantage to waxing by machine, its whatever you like best. If you use a paste wax, you'll definately want to do it by hand though or you'll end up using way to much of the product.

I put wax on by hand and buffed off by machine.
