faded color

Hi I have a 99 Maxima se-limited with a black interior and I just noticed today that my steering wheel the center part that you push in to beep the horn has faded to an ugly gray color. Is there anything I can do to restore it to its natural black color? Should I go ahead and get my car tinted to protect it? Thanks in advance.

Re: faded color

Probably not all that much you can do to restore it. The best thing to do would be just to use a normal vinyl protectand like 303 on it. That might help the color a little bit, and it will definitely help keep it from fading any more.

What might have happened is that it got weathered from the sun. The only option you have is to go get it professionally re-dyed.

Would a body shop be able to re-dye it for me? In the mean time ill
use a vinyl protectant on it and get my car tinted.
