Engine Bay cleaning woes

Yesterday I cleaned my engine bay with simple green. Turned out so so, you can tell what color the bay is again, but its still not squeaky clean. I do have a can of STP engine degreaser, would this work any better at cleaning it? any input is appreciated.

You may have to scrub the caked on dirt/grease with a stiff brush. Make sure that you wear eye protection if you use a brush, you don't want to get hit with solvents in the eyes.

I use to use engine degreasers, but have been using simple green for a few years now, and cI clean the bay a couple times per year.
