Anything to clear up the windshield?

The shmo before me must have never washed his car or changed his wipers because my windshield is a mess. It's extremely fuzzy and scratched along the paths of the wipers. Is there anything that I can put on it to clear it up? Whenever i clean my windows and put rain-X (great stuff might I add) on the windshield, it clears up a little bit. But it only lasts about 2 days.

Is there a way to Re-Surface it? Or buff it with something?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

I'd suggest the 0000 steel wool with a regular glass cleaner, then use a clay bar, then some Stoners.

I had some bad pitting on an old Mercedes and got a powder that mixed with water. It was fairly abrasive, but it got rid of a lot of the pitting. That was over 10 years ago and I can't remember what it was or where I got it though.

I was watching Crank and Chrome (one of the ones where they plug eagle 1 and clean somebody's car)and they mentioned using Barkeeper's Friend. Haven't tried it, but that's what they used.
