I had good experiences with the ding king, I removed two quarter-size dents with it. Well worth the money.

Yup, it works. I used it on my old '97 Max. Pretty time consuming since I had to pop a door ding around 10 times before it was nearly invisible. However, it won't work well in the following situations:
1. Very small dent (since the puller can't get enough leverage to pull really small spots.
2. Dents that involve really sharp creases in the metal. The dent could be pulled somewhat in this situation, but the crease will always be visible to some degree.

One big warning - Dont pull the dent too many times. When it's flush/nearly flush with the rest of the paint, stop. I pulled a dent a few too many times and actually popped the metal OUT a bit. This was arguably even more noticable than the dent!! Just a warning. Use carefully and you'll likely be happy with the results.

So there is no negative effect of gluing the puller to your paint, such as pulling paint off or cracking it. The sound of gluing something to my paintjob worries me.

I have a small lil dent on my rear fender on my 6th gen. I thought about PDR but I may purchase one of these if they really work.

Yeah, it sounds like a lousy idea, but I had no problems. It's just a warm glue that sticks to your paint. Actually, I'd think it would have a similar effect to claying your car...it won't "rip" off your clearcoat if that's what you're worried about. It's not really that strong of a bond - just strong enough to pull the dent a little before it lets go. This is why it takes so many tries to get the dent completely pulled.
