Fat Scratch

I have a 97 MAx, and on the front bumper on the part next to the fog light housing is a big scratch that has been there since i bought the car. The scratch is rusty and is very anoying when hits my eyes.

How would i get rid of that. would it be possible to send, prime and paint it my self and where would i get the car color paint.

If not how much would i be charged at a body shop for that

There have been a few people who ahve had success with repainting large scratches with thinned paint sprayed with an airbrush, but there have been more people who say that that technique doesn't work that well. Body shop is your best bet.

If the repair is too large or serious, it's usually better to just get a bodyshop to fix it. They'll repaint the whole bumper, where if you were to try touching up a large scratch yourself it might not look very good.

try wet sanding, but you have to have a powerful buffer after you wet sand.

If the scratch is so deep that it's down to bare metal and rusting, wet sanding isn't going to help anything.

Gotta agree with Bman and others. Take it to a body shop for repairs.
