Winsheild Wipers

Hello. I am a new Maxima owener and the paint on the winsheil wipers is chipping off at the hinge. I tried to take them off the other day to repaint them but I got the bolt off and tried to pull it off but it wouldn't budge. I have the Haynes Manuel and read about it in there and I still couldn't figure it out. Anyhelp would be apprechiated.

Gotta play with them. I raise the wiper arm like I'm going to clean the windshield, then pull up on the wiper base. Before you remove them, mark the wiper arm base and the bolt (not the nut) so you can get them back on right.

Try buying a paint pen that looks like a magic marker with paint inside. This way you can paint the wiper without taking it off from the car. This might be easier for you.

Get a really cheap gear puller (less than $10), fairly small. You won't need much force to get them off, but they don't come off by hand often. Usually they are on quite tight after a few years of buildup between the arm and the shaft it mounts on. Depending on how easy it is to access, it may be a two person job. One to hold the puller centered on the base of the arm and bolt, and one to turn the wrench. Shouldn't take more than a few minutes per side.

Thanks for the help. I just went out there to try to take it off and I got it off with my hand but unfortiantly I did not have time to paint it. Save time for that on Saturday.
