Hello, If any of you are following any of my threads, I got a 1989 5-Speed Maxima for $400.00. Well, It has some pretty neat little chrome EPIC 15's. The car has been sitting at a towing yard since last August, They have some rust on them in the back. I was wondering if I should get a SOS Pad and go to it, or what? If i do use a SOS pad.. What should I apply to the rims to make sure they dont re-rust? Thank you as always for helping me!

 

The steel wool might leave some scratches on the rims. You could try iit on a very small part of the wheel that won't show to check it out. Otherwise get a good metal polish. Might ask at a wheel shop and see what they recommend. I just use wax on my rims for protection. Good luck.

 

Yeah , an SOS pad might be a little too abrasive. I'd try to find some #0000 steel wool. Most auto supply stores that sell bodyshop supplies will have it.

 

Chrome cleaner.
