Will dish washing liquid strip clear coat?

I think there might be too many layers of cheap wax on my car so I'm planning to just wash it all off with Dawn and do it right with the expensive stuff. I'm worried about the clear coat coming off with it or maybe just damaging the clear coat. Will I be okay if I do this?

Dawn is an excellent choice for stripping old wax, while supposedly not being too harsh on your clear coat. Washing with it everytime wouldn't be good, but for your purpose, it's perfect.

Dawn is a great choice to remove the wax buildup. But only use it for this purpose.

dishwashing soap shouldn't strip the clear coat. just give your car a good wax afterwards and you'll be fine.

No, dawn will not strip your clear coat. Some medium to heavy cut compounds/polishes will.
