Thanks to all

My first post so I'll introduce myself I'm Luke, a 21 year old student here in southwest missouri (Springfield) I'm the new proud owner of a 98 pearl while maxima SE. My first car was a 89 maxima and I fell in love with them after that I finally found exactly what I wanted and made the purchase.

I'm making this post to thank everyone that contributes to the detailing board, because I just purchsed the 3 step meguiars paint protection and I can't say enough good things about it. I finished with their yellow 26 wax and I'm stunned at the quality of these products. I wouldnt' have known about these high quality products if it hadn't been for you people and your research. I was very pleased with the car before now I'm just beside myself how much I love it. Thanks to everyone.

Luke

so you did the 3 step,
Q
#1but how long did you wait for each step to dry
#2 did you use an electric buffer on the wax
#3 best way to apply 3rd step, and how many coats of 3rd step carnuba wax can i use
#4 i want to put on a lot of coats of wax before my road trip, would turtle wax be a good one? and how can i use it in conjunction (properly) with an electric buffer so it doesn't take my 2 hours a coat?

thanks : )

#1 most of the meguiars stuff requires you to wipe it off after it hazes, I did it a section at a time (hood, quarter panels paired with doors, rear end, and roof)

#2 no electric buffer I did it by hand...bought a package of new applicator pads, one for each step (100% cotton) and a package of silk soft finishing clothes

#3 read 2 for application, I did one coat of the wax last weekend and I'm going to do another this weekend, after this stupid rain.

#4 you dont need a ton of wax, just buy good wax and put one or two coats on it, I used meguiars yellow 26 one coat so far, it rained today and water was literally bouncing off my hood, puddles would slide off when I turned or if I was above 40 it would blow backwards up the hood. I've used many many other waxes and this is the first one I've seen work this well. it was $12 for a bottle but well worth it

I'd be happy to answer anymore question is you have em

Edit: Grab a friend and tag team it, you can wax all day while your buddy cleans up behind you, its super fast and effective..I do it as much as possible.

With any "3 step" process that you buy or cobble together yourself, the last step, wax, has to be a non-cleaning pure wax (#26 is one). Turtle Wax only sells cleaner wax so you can use it, but it may remove some of the step 2 glazing effect.

Trying to apply more and more layers of waxes seems to be highly debatable if this even works these days. There was a time when you could start getting wax buildup, but few people make waxes like that any more. Probably because wax buildup was unsightly. Just give it a couple coats for evenness sake and have a nice trip.
