Cat Scratches Hood Up

Guys...just bought an '04 (Black) about a month and a half ago. Walked out this morning to do a little detailing....and noticed claw marks in a couple of LARGE spots across the drivers side of the hood. SICK TO MY STOMACH just re-hashing this story!!!!!!!

Tried a little Meguires ScratchX as well as Meguires Gold Class Wax....no dice...still as ugly looking as before.

What can I do????? Is this something I have to take to a body shop??? What is something like this going to cost me??? Thought about calling the dealership Body Shop tomorrow to see what their thoughts are??? I live in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area.

Please Help!

Can you tell if the scratch is through the clear and color coat or not? I'd be surprised if a cat could get through the clear coat ans down to the color coat.

You should be able to use a scratch remover then to do it. Meguire's didn't work though. I use Griot's Garage stuff (www.griotsgarage.com) but they're far from the only product that does the job. I'd stop into pepboys/napa/whatever speed shop you have around and go through their paint care section and find a scratch remover and polishing compound that you could try.

This is good news. It means the scratches should be repairable. Try the Scratch-X again. I'm assuming you rubbed it in thoroughly with a bit of pressure? If not, do that, and if it doesn't fix it don't even bother waxing it yet. A Fine Cut Cleaner/Compound by Meguiar's/3M is probably your next stop.

+1
Waxing it is not going to get your scratch out.
You must use a cleaner to get that out, then a polish to bring the shine back, and then wax it.
I also say Meguiars.
Maybe try the heavy cut cleaner, then the fine cut cleaner, then, polish and wax.
