little chips that have rusted

i have about 3 of these little chips behind the passenger rear door outside the wheelwell and 1 or 2 on the roof that have rusted...they are very tiny but i'm not leaving them there what should i do to take care of them...just touch them up or what? also what is that stuff that you put on touch up spots that is supposed to make it look better (not thinner)

You need to sand the rust off then put touch up paint on top of the clean surface. You can cut a tiny piece of sandpaper to fit on the top of a pencil eraser and it will work in small spaces. Langka is the stuff that is supposed to smooth the touch up paint down. I have a few bottles of the stuff and have to say I'm not too impressed, maybe I'm using it wrong, but it just doesn't work too well for me.

I've had good luck w/ Langka, but you must be patient and take it slow. Also, they sell a rust removal pen that works great.

You don't have to sand at all. Use Naval Jelly. It will eat through all of the rust. After it's done, (directions are on the bottle) put some baking soda on for a couple of minutes to neutralize the Naval Jelly. This isn't totally necessary. I didn't use the baking soda and mine has been fine for over a year now. Apply touch up paint and your done. Sand Paper will create more of a problem than you currently have.

just for an update i used the little sanding pen and it worked very well..i've only patched up one of the chips w/ touchup/langka due to it starting to rain when i was doing it...the one chip i patched up looks pretty good. i did sand down all the spots though that had the rust w/the pen successfully
