Hey guys, just made a big order to properautocar for summer detailing supplies. Has anyone had experienc with this wax? It's really expensive, about just as expensive as zaino, but its caranuba, like "ultra fine" primo caranuba. They say it's great for dark colored cars (black max). Last wax i used was ps21, but i wanted to give this a shot.

Any comments, opinions on this wax?

Yeah, its probably the best wax out there. Is it worth the money? Probably not. If you have the money to spend though get it. You may only notice a small difference over ps21 because thats already a great wax to start with.

Many on autotopia swear by it on black cars. It's amazing for black and red. I've seen shocking results with souveran. Great choice! But yes, be sure to clay and polish first.

It's great stuff. Someday, I'll be able to afford it! Prinz applied some to my trunk at a meet last summer. I was using S100 at the time (still do), and the Souveran area looked a bit better than the S100.

It's the law of 'diminishing returns'. Say a $20 wax looks 'X' good. A $40 wax may look better, but not 'XX' (twice) as good.

That said, I will buy some Souveran at some point.

^^^ How do you like the S100, Im thinking of getting that next for my wax. Whats a good polish to pair up with it? Ive got meguiars #7 at the moment.

I really like the S100. I use it on top of Klasse AIO and SG. It is only a bit below the shine of the Souveran IMO and with a cost of only $15, I consider it very economical. It is also very easy to apply and remove.

I have used the Menzerna polishes for a couple years. (Intensive and Final) Very pleased with the results. See the thread 'Menzerna' below for more info.

I have not been a user of Meguiar's products so I can't comment on the #7.

My personal review of Souveran on Autopia:

Yes, Souveran is an expensive wax, but the old adage of "You get what you pay for" comes into play here. One thing I love is the pineapple/pina colada smell.
However, detailing products are not bought by smell alone. The main concern is how easy the product is to use and the end results. This wax is definitely worth the $70 asking price because it is one of the easiest waxes to use and has one of the best glosses on dark cars. No hazing required. Just wipe on, wipe off.

The best aspect about Souveran is the sensual feel your finish will have after application.

How long does one jar last for you? Also, how many layers did you apply on your max in that picture??

damn, that's alot of money for 1 wax. How durable is it?

I bought my Souveran in December of 2001 and I haven't even used 1/2 of the jar.

As far as durability's concerned, it will last around a month but does not lose gloss at all.

But one thing I need to stress about the above picture. This was taken after I did several steps.

This is what was involved in the above picture:

Wash with Meguiar's Gold Class and EF HI
Clay with Clay Magic Kit (Broke clay into 2 pieces. One for the wheels and the other for the body)
1x AIO (incliding all 4 wheels)
Souveran
Treated tires with Eagle One Tire Wet because I am low on Vinylex
1x KSG on the rims after claying them
Vacuumed the interior
AIO in the door jambs and on the plastic for the headlights and the taillights
Polished the Exhaust tips with Nevr Dull
Cleaned the glass with Stoner's and a YoSteve MT

The thing I try to stress the hardest in the Detailing Forum is that the paint preparation is the key step in getting your Max shiny. I took some light steps in that one since the Max was fairly new at the time that photo was taken.

OT: what other type of less expensive good wax that has the "wipe on wipe off" properties like Pinnacle? I hate standing around waiting for glazing.

S100 is 'wipe on wipe off' also. It looks almost as good as the Souveran, but only costs $15.
