Cleaning the engine

Ive looked around at many sites and people say different things. Some people say to cover everything others just say fuseboxes, distributor and stray wires. Other sites also say to spray everything with the cleaner, others just the engine. Who's cleaned their engine and what did you do?

I just cleaned my engine bay. I do it this same way everytime and haven't had a problem yet. I wait till the engine is cool and spray orange degreaser all over it, top and bottom. I let it sit 10 to 15 minutes, then rinse it off with high pressure hose. After I fully rinse it I wipe down all the water I can. Then I air blow the entire compartment (especially plug wire connectors) with my air compressor. I let the car sit 3 or 4 hours on a hot day to ensure everything is dry. Then I'm fine and my engine looks great.
