Bringing the max in for a detail this upcoming week...

Well Im tired of not getting great results by hand, so im going to bring my max into a shop to have them rotary buff her up. I found a place that does a full exterior detail for $80. They have an experienced staff and thats what counts. Talked with the owner over the phone for a good 15-20 mins and explained how I have a hard time having other people detail my car, but he assured me that if I dont like it, they will redo it for free.

So im bringing her by sunday for them to look at and see what scratches they can take out, and if they can bring back that deep red shine. Max has been looking a bit dull lately, so I think its worth it. Im gonna have them use a compound, then follow up with a nice polish, and wax. Any suggestions on what I should say when I go there?

Previous owner did a Sh!ty job taking care of the paint, ive done all I can do, so I think its time for a nice detail for the max before winter hits. I owe it to her, she did great over the summer.

What did you try doing by yourself? You can get scratches out by hand yourself if you have the right product and process. $80 isn't bad though. That's about what I charge people to wash/clay/polish/wax their cars.

Ive tried everything by hand. The best that worked was the 3M swirl remover for Dark colored cars. Id rather have it done with a rotary anyways, it will take away all the oxidation and remove alot of surface scratches ive TRIED by hand. The owner seems to know his stuff, im meeting with him sunday to discuss all that I want done.

Good news, I dropped by the shop this morning, and talked with the owner. He is gonna have his best detailer working on my car thursday morning, and this is what Im gonna have him doing on my car:

-Wetsand entire car
-Rubbing compound
-Polish
-Wax

They are gonna be working on it from 7am thursday, into the afternoon. So it will be a complete job. Its $125 w/ the wetsanding, but I think its completly worth it. Im excited, cause its gonna have such a deep shine to the paint now, and all the surface scratches wont be there, atleast most of them.

The scratches are that deep that they need to be wetsanded? Why does he need to wetsand the entire car? The rubbing compound should be perfectly adequate to remove any oxidation.
