Sounds like some bad orange peel, or it might be a some severe swirls... lets see some pics first.

Ok, it looks like they didnt polish after they painted (which is common at most cheaper paint shops).

Now, I claim no responsibility for what you do, I only offer advice.

go here: http://www.autopia-carcare.com/son-daspol-kit.html and get that kit. While you are there: http://www.autopia-carcare.com/1z-930606.html . Get that, and this: http://www.autopia-carcare.com/1z-930306.html . Then to top it all off, get this: http://www.autopia-carcare.com/klasse1.html and this: http://www.autopia-carcare.com/p21-127.html

It looks like alot of work, but the Porter cable makes it fly by. If you are having doubts about the products, take a look at this: http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?t=341625 . That is what Einzsett polishes can do (that is with the Einsett 1z glanz wax, btw) with a POS craftsman orbital buffer.

minus the body work from the accident $1200..
ppg paint use to the car stock code color.

i think the orange peel effect is killing the glass look of the paint job.

Well you get what you pay for. $1000 for a complete paint job is very low in price, hence the low quality of work. An experienced painter car repaint an entire car w/o any orange peel, and even if some does exist, it would be color sanded out.

Usually paint jobs can go anywheres from $3000 to $5000+.

$200 for wetsanding and buffing the entire car sounds too cheap, make sure they do a good job and buff out ALL the sand scratches. Otherwise go somewhere else.

since they didnt do it initially, most cheap places do that to make their job look better, they should do it gratis

its definetly not a custom show room paint room...
it is a stock ppg paint job, the orange peel is not major...

what is the average price of color sanding and buffing ?
for a 4 door sedan.

Well, paint jobs around $2000-3000 are just for stock ppg paint too. Its the labor that makes the job so expensive. If you skip alot of steps, yea, it will be cheaper. But if they missed a thing like buffing, then thats not good.

Color sanding cannot be done now. Its a step where you wetsand the actual color basecoat before you clear. All they can do is wetsand the clear coat to help flatten everything. But make sure they put enough clear on the first time, cause otherwise that paint job might not last a long time.

thanks of all the info.
what causes the wavery look, is it the orange peel or that the body work ( the door dings ) that is not completely flat.

The wavey look is just the way it was painted. Look at the earlier post I made and take those steps. That should reduce the wave effect significantly.
