Wheel cleaner

Will an ordinary cleaner help take off brake rust from a recently bad brake (grinded into the rotor). The wheel has bad orange/brown rust type stuff baked onto the surface. Its only one wheel.

I was thinking of maybe taking 2000grit sandpaper to the wheel, then buffing, but is there something easier that will take it off?

if you are talking about your stock wheels , try using an s.o.s pad with hot water. i had the same problem with the 16 inch se wheels on my 97. s.o.s pad did the trick, dont worry it doesnt make it dull or anything- so you are safe for that matter. good luck

I will give it a try. Even if it does scratch it up, I got plenty of compounds and polish sitting around...

How about claying? This sounds like just the thing claying is supposed to take car of (metal that's melted its way partially into the paint). Worth a try.

You're right, I never thought of that. I got some spare clay bars laying around, ill try that out first.... now only if it would get above 32 degrees around here.
