Another detail/buffer question
Hey everyone,
I'm planning on doing the Meguiar's 3 step system (paint cleaner/polish/gold class wax) after a good wax and clay session, but I have another buffer question. I actually just picked up another "random orbit" buffer, 6" daimeter, 2600 rpms so that I can have more control/balance compared to my previous 10", and while reading the directions again, I noticed (yet again) that they say that waxes can be buffed out with the buffer - just using a polishing bonnet. However, Looking at the back of the Meguiars bottles tells me to apply by machine, and take off with a microfiber towel in straight, even lines.
So, which would you suggest - removing the paint cleaner/polish/wax by hand, or by buffer???
Thanks again for the help.
Another option - remove the paint cleaner and polish with microfiber, and then remove the finishing wax with the polisher...?

the 3 step is a nice and easy setup to use. You can remove the products any way you see fit (machine, hand, etc..). If you really want to make the car look nice, you might want to try some of the stuff at www.autopia-carcare.com , Get yourself one of the sonus perfect shine kits (porter cable high speed buffer and foam cutting pads). That, and some Meguiars #83, Klasse AIO and SG, then a coat of P21s/S100 carnuba wax will give your car a smoothness and shine (not to mention durability) like no other.

I agree. #83 is great stuff. I recently used it on my brother's caddy with heavy oxidation. Removed lots of oxidation without the use of a HS, but HS would've given better results. Follow it up with a swirl remover, polish, and wax.
I have always removed products by hand with a microfiber towel. I don't think it would go much faster with a machine and bonnet. Plus you're more likely to see a spot you missed if you're buffing with a MF towel.

That's why I use microfiber bonnets to take off wax. Then I'll take a microfiber cloth and touch up any spots that I missed.
