Wash/wax @ diff. locations

This sounds like a stupid question but for some reason I'm concerned. Would it be ok to wash my car at one location and drive it to another location to wax it. With a total of like 2 miles in between locations. I just wasn't sure if dust would accumulate faster if I drive it and I don't want to wax a car that is dirty.

Safe? Has anyone done a similar thing?

If you do that i'd say after you drive the 2 miles...go over the car with a quick detailer before you wax.

I agree, you will probably be fine but just hit it up with a quick detailer like meguiars quick detail spray and a microfiber before applying the wax just to be safe.

I feel you on the different locations thing, I dont have a garge to do mine in so I got to go find a place to detail it in the shade when I do mine.

x2

Just make sure the car is cool before applying the quick detailer and waxing or you will end up with waterspots and streaks that you don't want.

Why not just pick up the dust with a swiffer or something?

Because if any dirt is stuck on, you'll need to remove it with a quick detailer. A swiffer might not take care of all of the dirt.

Plus you rin the risk of introducing scratches and swirls to your finish using a Swiffer because of the dust particles.

Thanks for the advice guys. This time I ended up just washing and waxing it as the car wash. I really hate not being able to wash my car by hand because I live in an apt.

I feel your pain, everyone here seems to have a house and a place where they can spend an entire day washing their cars.

I have 4 minutes to wash my car before I run out of quarters at the self serve.

well, a microfiber cloth and some quick detailer will do the same thing, but actually better. it can often act as a temporary wax too... 2 mile isnt much, id think it would be ok to just take a towel to it real quick.

I love my California Duster. I only use it when it has light dust on it. Like pollen, etc. It is pollen season here and a clean car only last for about two hours before the pollen attacks it. That is when I use the duster with no complaints.
