Turtle Wax for scratches and nicks

I've read about this product called Turtle Wax Car Cure to remove nicks and scratches. Has anyone heard anything about it and if it really does work? Any info would be good. Thanks in advance.

never heard of it, but most likely will not remove and nicks and deep scratches. It is prob. made for light surface scratches and swirls. A good product to use fo rthis is meguiars scratchX if you are applying it by hand. If you are using a porter cable or some kind of machine you can try some different polishes that will work a lot better. But you will have to ask some of the professionals around here what they reccomend, as I am just getting introduced to the world of machines in detailing.

That came out wrong, I meant to say these kind of products are made to remove light surface scratches and swirls and mequiars scratchX would prob work the best. To remove deep scratches you will have to use a special polish and a machine. Sorry for the confusion

Stay away from Turtle Wax stuff. TW stuff just isn't as effective as the ScratchX that Max20se00 mentioned. ScratchX is one of the best products out there for use by hand if you don't have a DA.

A good rule to follow is this: If you can feel the scratch with your finger, then you won't be able to completely remove it, but you will be able to hide it and make it less noticable. So start with the ScratchX, and finish with a wax like gold class or NXT.

With some heavier scratches, you would have to use heavier compounds to lessen them and then polish out the hazing.

what are you guys talking about? i must be using scratch x wrong because it doesnt remove even the smallest scratches on my car!

i apply a good coat on the scratches and let it rest for 30 min, and then wipe it off. Nothing. NOTHING happens. It's back to the way it was.

I have never used it, but TRUST me, letting ANY wax rest for 30 or even 300 minutes and buffing off does not remove scratches. Only several applications over several months help remove enough paint to even it all out. But by then, you will have new swirls. Mag's swirl remover a good moderate cutter (3 on a scale of 1-10, 1 being lightest); better than ScratchX, and can be applied by hand. However, don't expect overnight results even with that.

Are you working it into the paint with an applicator, or just using some cloth? Work the stuff into the paint good, and you'll see better results.

On another note, if the scratch is too deep, then ScratchX might not do anything to it, and the scratch(es) might need to be machine cut and polished.

I'm using the wax applicator pad that i got when buying Meguiars NXT wax.
Today i really rubbed the spots well. First with scratchx, then with Nufinish polish, and then with Meguiars NXT wax. It did not remove the scratches, it just seems like the scratches are harder to see than before. I guess it kinda works, but i expected better results for small scratches like these.

First of all, stay FAR AWAY from nu finish. Second, the ScratchX isn't going to remove the entire scratch. If you expect miracles, get a professional to remove them with a rotary buffer.

If you can feel the scratch with your fingernail, you're not going to get the entire thing out, you're just going to cover it up.
