How do you dry?

How do you guys dry your car? I have heard that a chamois (which is what I usually use) will strip the wax off of the car. Is this true? Guess I am just curious what other methods people use.

i use microfiber towels, dunno if that is good, but it does the job. now that spring is here and summer is coming, i think im gonna try the mr clean car wash because it is hands free drying, i seriously can't waste time washing and hand drying every two weeks, can get very gruesome.

How many microfiber towels does it usually take to dry the Max? I might go buy some tomorrow. By the way, how much do they cost and where can you get them?

Sorry if these are dumb questions, but I have never owned a car that I love as much as my Max and I want to take good care of it. I am planning to do my first in depth detail ever (clay bar, pre wax prep, and then wax) this week. I have already done the Leatherique to the inside (I have never had a car with leather either) and am very pleased with the results.

I appreciate everyone's input and am open to any tips or suggestions. Thanks again.

I dry mine with one with no problem, I bought mine at wal mart, I think it was around $3 to $5, don't really remember, but Its well worth it. Can't beleive I used to use one of those stupid chamois or however you spell it. The towel is much better and I see no need for buying more than one.

Ya. Just not after 9PM or so. I don't want to upset the neighbours. It's the bomb for getting water out of the wheels, mirrors, and trim pieces.

I usually use a microfiber towel to dry the majority of the car tho. Its like 20x30 or something. I don't even have to wring it out while I'm drying the car.

Also using a hose with no sprayer on the end helps. Turn the water down low, and use a side to side motion across each panel. The water will pull itself down and leave hardly any on the panel. Works like crazy on a freshy waxed car.

California Water Blade and a large waffle weave microfiber towel for most of it.

I also use the old fashioned thin cloth diapers for getting into small areas - mirrors, around the clear corners, under headlights.

Absorber....that thing is great. And if I wash it at the car wash, I get on the highway down the street, take it up to about 85-95 and car is dry by the time I get home.

Well my paint job isn't the best so anything looks better than it would have before. Once I send it to a shop for the much needed repairs then I'll take time to dry.

i thought i was the only one who used a leaf blower. It is much like the dryer at the automatic car wash. I use plain old fashioned towels. But those days need to end soon. It drives me nuts after a while.

California water blade to get the majority off, absorber to get the rest and pull the water out of the cracks (mirror, sidemarkers, etc.)

That's funny, I love mine... it filters the water and it's great for a quick, hands-free dry. I love it.

The chamois will only strip your wax off if you use a dryer sheet when drying it after washing it. Otherwise, you should be fine.

California water blade!! Love that thing! Some people squirm at the idea of it, but I have used it for years---with no issues. just have to make sure it is clean and wet before I use it.

Im sure it would dry more of the car if there were less angles and bends on the car, but oh well.. dont want to mess with the lines on the max!

I use the Absorber to dry my car. It works well for me. Takes me about 5 minutes. After that, I use different microfiber towels to get the excess water off the body, wheels, and exhaust.

I bought the Mr.Clean and was pleased with it until i used it a couple of days after a fresh wax job. It seemed to strip the wax off. The paint was very dull feeling...meaning it wasn't smooth and slick feeling anymore. I haven't used the Mr. Clean since.

+1 for the absorber.. I've been using it for like 8 years and it still impresses me with how much it holds!

I believe anyones success with this product must have something to do with the quality of water in their area. Where I live the water is horrible to begin with so the filters provided must not be able to filter out all of the contaminants. I used it the first time and my car was dirtier after than before! I figured it probably needed to be broken in (like a faucet filter) so I used it 2 more times and had the same results so I decided to just stick with the absorber to dry it. I still use it only because it has the soap dispenser and I put Meguiars soap in it but I don't use the auto dry feature.

I dont think that chamois strips wax at all... I used to use one and the water would still bead up after the next wash...

Notice I said "used"

Mr Clean Car Wash System is hand down worth every penny.... wash is easy with no bucket... Ive never had a single water mark on my Black Max with it...
