Keep your windows rolled up if you can, beat the **** out of your floormats b/c they keep a lot of dust/dirt in them even when they look clean, and keep a swiffer wipe in your glovebox, I do all of those things b/c dust and a black dash drive me crazy.

Swiffer works like a charm. Once or twice a week and it's spotless.

I would clean out your vent filter thing, on the right side of the hood, almost against the windshield. It should be right next to the driver side wiper, it should be in the black trim/panel in between the windshield & hood. I did it on my VE & there was no more dust & stuff coming through my vents. Just take the hose of a vacuum & suck the stuff out of it, rather than taking it apart. It works good. You want to do it for like 15 min. In the little hole thingys, there should be a few layers of metal filters under the plastic black panel thing. Some stuff should be trapped in between the screen & plastic panel. In that case just take something real skinny & pointy & push down on the metal screen & that should free up stuff that wouldn't come up. Also note that after you do this, it will free up some stuff into the vents, and it will drop down & then shoot out the vents. So for the 1st min. after cleaning it, minor amounts of stuff will come through the vents. So keep the vacuum out there & just let the vents blow it out & keep vacuuming (in the car now). Maybe just point the vents outside the windows & drive & just let it run like that for a min. or two. After I did this, the air came in much fresher, & NO DUST & CR@P! Also I have a 3rd Gen. I'm not too sure how 4th Gens are setup. So If its totally different then my bad, but it may work, so check.

What do you dress your dash with? Some products attract dust more than others. For the wipes, I buy a pack of swiffer like wipes for $1 at the dollar store (go figure).

Are you sure its not from your seats or carpet? Take your floormats to a self service carwash place and pressure wash them and watch all the brown stuff come out.
