Question about washing....

I have two questions but similar. Might be stupid question but I would like feedback.

1) When washing your car is it better to use cold water or warm-little hot water? And why?

2) This for guys that used Mr. Clean AutoDry. Do you use cold or warm-little hot water. If warm side its safe for the gun/sprayer?

I would assume cold.

Imagining that most people use a hose-----nobody is going to heat the water up first?

Thats what i thought also. I always used cold. But i saw my neighbor. He uses hose hooked up to his kitchen sink and uses pretty warm water it seems like. So i'm guessing he turns on the hot water also.

I can tell because i see like steam coming out when he is washing.
And this guy is pretty into detailing his car. He washes his car everyday. I think he use to do this as a profession.
So just curious if one is better than other to wash with.....

anyone else have feedback? I think PrinzII would have alot of knowledge in this since he is the moderator and seems to know EVERYTHING about detailing...feedback from PinzII please.....

Cool/cold is better.

I would think that hot water and rubbing would take some wax (caranuba) off. Not all at once but that would probably strip it more quickly than cold water.

I wouldn't use hot water. Maybe just lukewarm. If you heat up the panel in the summer it just dries quicker and leaves water spots. Also I feel that it may strip off the wax/sealant quicker than cold water.

However in the winter I use hot water only so it doesn't freeze on the panels.

It really doesnt make a difference, hot or cold (unless the outside temp is a factor). The warm water would help to loosen some things (bird droppings, dried wax, etc...) but soap is just as effective.

The only time I have ever seen anyone use hot/warm water is in the winter months around these parts. I have never seen anyone use warm/hot water when it's temperate. But generally, I use cold water.
