Stock Mag polishing

Some people I know recommend polishing the stock 04-05 SE Wheels to a silver shine. Has anyone done this and what do you guys (and Gals ) think?

Polishing the wheels will give it a almost chrome look. I'd get them chromed out before I would polish them. It might even be cheaper to buy a brand new set of aftermarket wheels.

Just my $.02

I agree with rabenoja. Polishing is pretty time-consuming and it's some hard work. Upkeep isn't that easy either since there is no longer a protective coating on the wheels.

Is up keep really that hard? There are shops up here that will polish the mags for about $100 per wheel. In the province of Quebec it will be law soon to have seperate winter tires. I have 4 performance winter tires on seperate steel rims with hub caps. I know you are all gasping at how ugly the combo must be however most of the time in winter here the wheels are sooooo dirty that you can't tell what's on! LOL...If I find second hand 17" mags I will switch..until then...225 65 17 's! So I don't think maintenance is really the issue here since I only use them seven months in the year. I'm more interested in the look. I was wondering if anyone had it done this and if so how it turned out....no offence. By the way most of us up here don't drive all seasons in winter...that would be shear suicide! Excuse me for my indiscretion, I don't know why this post was moved to maintenance and detailing. This has more to do with look and style. When I said polishing I did not mean with compound and wax by hand, I meant having them grinded to a polish by a professional maching shop specialiazing in Mag manufacturing, polishing (Grinding) and repair.
