rust before touch-up pen tips

i just bought the touch-up pen for all the chips from rocks bieng picked up on the highway
so you put the paint on, put the clearcoaton your done but...for the tiny rust thats forming inside the chips..should i just sand it away carefuly and then go ahead?
or is sanding too harsh and i should use something else?
if i do sand it them out, ill end up sanding more than i need to away like the paint surrounding the chip. but i guess i cant do much about that
any tips? thanks alot

use 3m rubbing compund to get the rust out. Use a thin cotten rag(tshirt) and a dab of it. It takes soem elbow greese but it worked for me.

I had a similar problem. What I used was a dremel bit - the pink tipped one. It was a cone shape and I just used the tip to get at the rust. Did it manually, worked great.

Also, don't mean to hijack but my ambitious personality decided to purchase 2 bottles of touch up. I'm barely through half of one. If anyone wants the other new one, its KT3 (sterling mist). Paypal a few bucks for shipping and its yours...
